June 5th, 1497 - JOHN HALYDAY of Halidayhill or Bardonanhill caused to be sealed with his own seal certain charters and evidents made by him to GEORGE GRERESONE in Lag on the aliienation of the lands of Halidayhill, in the sheriffdom of Drumfrece, namely two charters on parchment, one of all the lands of Halidayhill, to be held of the King, and another of these lands, reserving to JOHN and his heirs a house in the town of Halydayhill occupied by Thomas Cuk and two acres of the said lands adjacent to that house on the north side, for the service to be rendered to the King; and two precepts conform to these charters and a letter obligatory for the safe custody and fulfilment of the charters and precepts. He signed these five documents.

John's seal contained a shield having in chief a star with a canton (centone), beneath this, in the middle, a rose, and underneath the rose a cross of St. Andrew, and in base of half of a rocha. While the charters were being sealed, JOHN acknowledged that the seal was his own. Done in the notary's house in Canongate.
