Item (4) dated c1800 - Copies of papers addressed to the Lairds of McGregor and the Tutors of
McGregor by the Marquis of Montrose, Charles II & James II. These express appreciation for the loyalty of the McGregors & assuring them of their rights to certain lands when the present troubles are over. The original papers were dated 1645 - c1689.
Item (6) dated c1890 - Copy of the Laird of McGregor's declaration produced at the time of his conviction in January, 1604.
Item (7) dated 1890 - Copy of the declaration acknowledging (Sir) JOHN MURRAY MCGREGOR as (CHIEF) of the Clan Gregor.

Letter to (Sir) John MacGregor Murray from a member of the Clan [Gregor] on the behalf of other members of the Clan [Gregor] complaining bitterly that the Chief of the Clan [Gregor] still goes by the name of "MURRAY" and not the Clan name. ..... He continues that "Col[onel] EVAN, on the event of his succession must either subscribe himself a real MacGregor of [sic] forfeit his pretensions to the Chiefship."

Copy declaration made on 25th June, 1717 by ROB ROY MACGREGOR to all true lovers of Honour & Honesty.

Copy of declaration by some members of the Clan Gregor that ALEXANDER DRUMMOND or MCGREGOR is appointed Chief of the Clan Gregor. One of the signatures was ROB ROY MACGREGOR.

Copy of memoire in favour of JAMES DRUMMOND or MACGREGOR, son of ROB ROY MACGREGOR directed to the Marquis of Saint Coute, Minister & Secretary of State of France. JAMES MACGREGOR has been forced to flee to France as a result of his activities on behalf of the JACOBITE cause during the rebellion of 1745 & he wishes to be put on the list of Scots resident in France who receive a gratuity from the French Court.
