Growing Marijuana Guide
Indoor Marijuana Cultivation
Growing Indoors or in a Greenhouse.
Personally I think growing indoors or in a greenhouse is the best way of getting the most plants from your seeds. This way you can control all the variables: temperature, light, food, soil type and watering. The seeds you use should be green and plump for good growing results. Before growing, you should soak the seeds in warm, but not hot, water for about 1-2 hours.
Preparing The Soil (and Type)
You should ideally use a seeding/potting compost (that black stuff) and add a little sand to the soil. The seeding compost will have all the necessary nutrients the seedlings will need. The Ph of the soil should be at 7. You should use a seed tray rather than small pots, and put one of those plastic propagators on the top, to help build the temperature up. The tempurature is best between 60 and 85 degrees. Use a thermometer to keep an eye on it.
Planting Your Seeds
Place your (now soaked) seeds, with the pointed end up, about ¼ of an inch deep in the soil and leaving 2-3 inches space between each seed. This makes it easier to pot them up later. Once you have planted your seeds water them using a fine watering spray. Place the plastic propagator on top of the seed tray and place either in the greenhouse or on a windowsill. If your are growing your plants in a dark room, then the walls should be either planted white or cover with tin/aluminum foil. This will reflect the light.
The LIGHTS TO USE should be either bulds or florescent tubes. Use 1 standard florescent tube(which emits10 watts) per 1 foot squared. You can buy these from a hardware store or garden center.
You should put a strip light above your plants about 3 feet away, to prevent them from burning, until they sprout. Have the ligth on for about 14-16 hours a day, until the plant matures. Once the plant matures, you want to reduce the light to about 8 hours a day.
Female plants start to producce small hair near the center and base of the stem. These hairs will be fertilized by the male pollen (if present) The hairs can be coloured from off white to orange.
The Male plants produce small buds or balls in the same place as the female hairs, and (if left) the balls will burst spreading pollen to firtilize the female plants via the hairs. So as soon as you see the hairs appear then separate these from the ones that don't have the hairs, (unless you want to produce seeds).
But don't throw away the male plants because they still can be used, although they're not as strong.
Using the Male plants.
If you have male plants and you are wondering what to do with them, you should, instead of smoking them boil them up to make tea. This is more effective than smoking them and you can boil up the whole plants, stems and all.
3-5 plants should be enough, chop these and place them in a pan with boiling water and boil for about 1 hour. Strane the mixture so you don't get any bits in the tea.
Now flavour your tea with some fruit tea bags (honey, fruit juice will do) or it will taste like hey. Now enjoy...
Watering
You should water your plants each day and at the end of every week you should give your plants some plant food. Tomato food or "Miracle Grow" are good enough.
Potting Up
Once your seedlings reach about 1-2 inches in height you should replant them in separate pots. The pots should be about 3-4 inches in diameter, and contain the same sort of soil as you used before, including the sand. Again repot your plants when they reach 8-10 inches in height in pots of about 1ft in diameter.
Pinching Out
To make your plants bush out and produce lots of buds later on, you should chop off the top set of leaves. BUT do not pinch off the 1st or 2nd set of leaves, wait until a 3rd set of leaves appear. Once you have cup off a set of leaves, then several new sets will soon appear. Let these grow for a while a repeat the process. Keep on doing this and before you know it you will have plants jam packed with many, many shoots getting ready to bud.
Budding
After about 10-12 weeks or so, you should start to reduce the light you give them. This will make the plants begin to bud. If you keep reducing the light the buds will generate within the next 3-6 weeks.
Harvesting Your Goods.
Your plants, if female, should start to wither at about 15-18 weeks of growing and this is the time to pick them. If some of your plants start withering at about 10-12 weeks then there are probable male plants. Male plants grow taller than the female plants and contain less THC chemical but never the less, they should also be used. Just keep them separate from the female plants otherwise the females will produce seeds, (only do that if you want seeds).
Drying
Cut off the plant(s) at the base and hang them upside down in a dry room with a heated fan to blow over your plants. Make sure the room is kept moisture free. You can now enjoy your harvest.
