FUN FOOD LUNCH COUNT - FEATURED IN THE INNOVATORS SECTION OF THE MARCH 2001 ISSUE OF THE NEA TODAY MAGAZINE! NEW AND IMPROVED WITH 24 NEW ENTREE CARDS!!

Have students see how their lunch selection can be used in a graph. An easy way to take lunch count too! 65 original entree photo cards with 24 additional entree cards that will surely be on your monthly menus. Blank cards included for adding regional entrees.

Recommended for Pre-K thru 5th grade and GREAT for ESL or Hearing Impaired classrooms! Students will be able to see their lunch choices before making their selection each day. Make lunch count FUN and EDUCATIONAL!

Also included is a Fun Food Monthly Graph sheet. Add this to your daily opening. You may ask, "Without counting, who can tell me todays most popular choice?". You will then fill in the appropriate box at the bottom of the graph, either Regular, Alternate or Cold lunch. At the end of the month the students will see the graph formed by their daily lunch choices.

30 spoons are included with the kit. Additional spoons or other craft sticks you might choose can be found at craft stores. Velcro used for the graph cards and back of the wooden spoons is not included. Possible suggestion: Use the side of a large metal file cabinet for displaying the graph and apply pieces of craft magnets to the back of the graph cards and wooden spoons.

Directions: Cut apart all entree and display cards. Attach a small piece of velcro to the back of each card. Store cards next to the graph and keep in alphabetical order for ease in changing daily choices. Placement on bulletin board should be as shown. Your bulletin board should be placed so it is convenient for students to make their selection as they come into the classroom each day. After writing student names on the spoons you will attach a small piece of velcro to the back. Spoons will be placed on the side strip after lunch each day so the students can make their new selection on the next morning. Linda Vieria - Kindergarten Teacher, New Bedford, MA -

We are switching to full day kindergarten in September and this is exactly what we have been looking for to help with lunch. Thank you for making such a wonderful idea available to everyone!

Kathy Rech - Kindergarten Teacher, Orange Elementary, Waterloo, IA -

I think it's a lifesaver! For any student who has limited or no reading skills, for the special needs child that requires pictures to help with organization, for the ESL child that might not even understand the spoken word, for the stressed teacher that could always use a few "extra minutes" this program is invaluable. The saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words." I believe this program is worth it's "weight in gold!"

Cindy Mohling - Kindergarten Teacher, Orange Elementary, Waterloo, IA -

I found Ann's lunch choice system to be invaluable. The pictures are extremely helpful to my ESL students. All of the students are able to make their lunch choices independently and free my time up for other tasks. The system is very easy to use for both the teacher and the students. I can see this system working not only for kindergarten, but also for first grade, second grade, and all ESL classrooms.

Nicole Kuenning - Special Education Teacher, San Antonio, TX -

I want to tell you how wonderful I think your lunch graph kit is. I teach children with special needs that are fully included into the general Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. Visuals are very important to most of my students as they have language processing problems. Your system helps facilitate the communication of what they want to eat, as well as teaching graphing/math skills. Not only do my students with special needs use and benefit from it, but the general education students learn from this system as well.

Melinda Huting - Second Grade Teacher, Hudson Elementary, Hudson, IA -

I am a second grade teacher and I purchased one of your Fun Food Lunch Charts for my classroom. I have really liked how easy it has made our lunch ordering. I wrote the student's mailbox number (rather than name so I can reuse them each year) on a spoon and put a piece of sticky magnet on the back of the spoon. Each day the choices are up on the side of my metal cabinet. I put a small piece of the sticky magnet on the back of each picture. All of my picture cards are in a recipe box with an alphabet index sorting them. As they enter the classroom each day, they pick up their spoon and stick it in the column showing their "vote". It has simplified the lunch count issue immensely! Thanks for coming up with such a user friendly method.

Carol Menefee - Kindergarten Teacher, Hudson Elementary, Hudson, IA -

I have used the Fun Food Lunch Count for 6 months. I teach kindergarten and it helps my students independently choose their lunch choice everyday. It has been super in making that be their job, building responsibility. It has been a teacher's lifesaver!!!
