Grace Prayer Bulletin # 75
October 3, 1999Slates - Kiel, Germany
Nathan, a young man, recently spent some two months with Rex and Leslie
Slate in Kiel Germany.
The Slates relate that His task included: "helping with two youth group
sessions, preaching at two University groups, passing out the June issue of
"Wort für Heute", passing out tracts during Kiel Week in June, doing games
for two children's clubs, the crafts and games for the Children's Bible
Week, helping with the yard work and vacuuming the house in preparation for
services."
One of the purposes of Nathan's time in Germany was to learn some German.
The Dohm's, a former school principal and his wife assisted in extending
Nathan's German vocabulary, as he spent extensive time with them.
Irene, a Russian woman who spent a year in Kiel, came to know the Lord in
this time and has been growing in Christ. She is now returning to be with
Slava, her husband. The Slate's desire prayer that Slava would respond
positively to the changes in his wife.
The Slates teach in a University Ministry in Kiel, they have students who
are returning to their homes. Some as believers and some not. This is an
opportunity to reach their lives to sew, water and reap spiritual rewards.
As they leave pray that God's grace would give those who are His the
opportunity to minister in their home lands.
My-kyung, a Korean High School girl recently left for Michigan for a year in
Michigan as an exchange student on a high school. Pray she will find a
suitable Church and opportunities to continue her spiritual growth.

Rex.Slate@kiel.netsurf.dePastor Bala - Auckland, New Zealand - Concerning a work in Malaysia
I found this very encouraging, as this is happening worldwide, God is truly
opening eyes to His grace.
Pastor James Indran was in God's providence led to Pastor Bala of the
Sovereign Grace Church in Auckland, New Zealand to have contact with him.
Pastor Bala requested that we "pray for a Tamil church and for its pastor in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Providence led us to come into contact with this
church six years ago, as the Pastor James Indran was looking for help to
come to the understanding of the reformed faith. The church is part of the
First Baptist denomination of Malaysia, which is Arminian & Charismatic. We
as a church here, have been assisting Pastor Indran and the church for the
past six years by way of providing teaching, counsel and the necessary
materials. I have also visited the church for the past six years and have
come to love the dear people. The denomination realizing the changes taking
place in the life of this local church has put much pressure on them to be
in line with their doctrines.
"The church has been patiently working through the 1689 Confession of faith
in order to accept it as their statement of faith. They now realize, that
it is the right time to separate from the denomination
to become an independent local church. We have drawn up a constitution for
the church, and the members will go through it in the coming days. Once it
is done the church will accept the constitution and with a new name will
become the first Tamil Reformed Baptist church in Malaysia. The church will
loose its financial support as well as the vehicle from the denomination.
The vehicle was necessary to help people with transport and was also used to
bring the children to the Sunday school. The members of the congregation
are not wealthy but are doing their best to meet the needs of the ministry.
The elders (Indran and Robert) and the members of the congregation are
confident that with the help of the
Lord they can meet the future challenges.
The church at present meets in a rented property, which has a large hall to
hold the services and other meetings. The pastor resides in the same
building with his family. He is married with a daughter (18
months). We are in close contact with two other churches, which are also
part of the denomination and we long for the day that they too will separate
and take the steps this local church has taken.
Seven percent of the population in Malaysia are Tamil speaking people and
the gospel has been preached among them for a long time. Most of the Tamil
churches are Charismatic and follow extreme forms of practice. Very little
of the gospel is heard in many pulpits. This is the first time a Reformed
Baptist Church is going to be established among the Tamil speaking people of
that country.
Please Pray:
1. That the elders of the church and the members will be given wisdom as
they study the constitution together.
2. For the members as they rearrange their financial commitments to meet the
present need.
3. That a suitable vehicle to be provided to meet the need of transport.
4. That the Lord will protect them from any difficulties, which could be
caused by the denomination.
By His grace,
Pastor Bala

The Collins Family - Pollard Evangelical Church - Kettering, Northants,
England
We came in contact recently with this Church in the UK. I am thankful for
the kindness of those who respond with there time in telling us of their
work as Charles did. This is an edited version of the letter he sent me.
Please tell me of your work and labor for Christ, so I may share with others
and others may join with you in prayer for all of these works."We have much to be thankful for as the church is in a healthier state now
than when we first arrived here. Though the membership is smaller it is far
more united in doctrine and purpose. We believe the Lord has pruned the work
in order that new growth with come. Please join with us is praying for that
new growth. Please pray that the Lord would send to us men who are gifted
and able to help in the leadership of the work and also those who are able
to get involved in leading the work we do among the children in our
neighborhood.
Though the membership is smaller (now only 8) the congregation is bigger andwe are thankful for those who now regular worship with us. We trust that
they will continue to enjoy and benefit from the ministry and grow in grace
and in the knowledge of God. This past year we have seen two families begin
attending the church and we long to see more like them coming along.
Our work among the children and ladies of the neighbourhood continues. In a
couple of weeks we shall commence our Ladies Meeting (Mon 2.30pm), our
Adventurers Club (Tues. 5.30pm - 7.00pm (4yr-11yrs) and our Pioneers Club
(Tues.'s 7.30pm - 9.00pm (11+yrs). Join with us in praying that as the
gospel
is spread abroad among them that God will save souls.
We also hope to leaflet the area around the church with evangelistic
leaflets before Christmas.
This weekend is our 108th Anniversary and we have been able to put an
article in the local paper concerning it. If nothing comes from the
advertisement at least it lets people know where we are and that we are
still active.
For this coming year I am trying to develop our Thursday night meeting. I
hope to do some studies in Church History, Biblical Doctrines, studies in
Hebrews and have a monthly Missionary Prayer Meeting. It will a greater work
load on my part but I trust these studies will be of benefit to the few who
attend.
Our Church Constitution Meetings are coming on well and hopefully all will
be completed for the coming new year.
Thank you for your interest in us and your prayers for us. Do keep in
contact and let us know your prayer requests so that we can pray more
effectively for you."Charles, Lydia, Emily, Ben and Thomas Collins
