A ministry of The King's Chapel

Grace Prayer Bulletin # 63
7-4-99

"We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:1-2, NKJ)

Brad and Barb Settle and Family - Tanzania - Africa
There have been many hardships for the Settle family, sickness, including malaria. Another hardship that they seem to be frustrated with is the constant stealing of their goods and ransacking of their home. This is a difficulty, as the ones they are ministering to are repeatedly abusing them, and do not want a relationship with them. Yet they are learning to "love your enemies, pray for those whose despitefully use and persecute you..."
Pray for the strength to endure this and that the gospel may profit from this. This last Resurrection Sunday there were 23 Taturu believers baptized and again on a more recent Sunday, 6 more. This is a good testimony of the Sovereign Grace of God and his work in these tribes and communities.

Andrea Ferrari - Missionary to Italy
From Frank Boydstun, Pastor of Classen Boulevard Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma we received and edited the following letter (via Jon Farese) "Andrea Ferrari is a very Godly and bright young missionary. His wife, Cristina, and two precious little boys will be with him. You will increasingly love Andrea the better you know him. I realize you may not be able to financially support him, but in all sincerity I say very plainly that your burden and prayers for the work in Italy will be a far greater contribution than any money you can give. I surely mean that. That is Andrea's firm belief as well. We know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit of God helps us in this infirmity. Perhaps He will place deep in your hearts a zeal and burden to pray for Andrea and Giovanni Reno, who presently bear the greatest burden of all for the work of our Savior and Lord in Italy. This is our great concern. We believe there is no substitute for the power of God's Spirit in evangelism, church planting and all missionary endeavors. We also believe wholeheartedly that these manifestations of God's grace and power come only in answer to prayer.
Andrea Ferrari and his family have moved to Naples to begin a new work there. This work is based on the sovereign grace of God and the Biblical doctrine that does not accept the Pentecostal view of the Holy Spirit. March 7 I spoke to that group. There were 17 adults and teenagers present. Like Andrea they have left the Assembly of God because they believe in God's sovereign grace and the sufficiency and fullness of His first work of grace in their lives. We pray that God will establish a local church in that place. We plan next year to pitch a tent in Naples and evangelize the area. Also, we are planning a pastors conference next fall in Naples, which will probably be the first pastors' conference ever held in Italy. Besides all the pastoring and preaching and evangelizing, Andrea is joined by other very bright young men in translating and publishing sovereign grace works. Our publishing company is "Alpha & Omega." Andrea Ferrari is an
excellent translator and skilled with gifts for publishing and distributing sovereign grace books and literature. He is a very Spiritual-minded young man -- as no doubt you will better discern, the better you know him. Andrea is bright, knowledgeable, efficient, and well-educated. Other competent young men help Andrea in this time-consuming work of translating grace books -- Reno Ulfo in Sicily, Franco Ulfo in Naples, Giovanni Marino in Naples, Fabio Sgroi in northern Italy. (34 year old Reno is the 'old man' of the group.)
Dear Friend, I relate all these things to give you a better idea of what is happening in Italy under the ministry of Grace Baptist Italian Missions, the ministry in Italy of our local church. In Christ Jesus, our Lord,

Frank Boydstun, Pastor

NEWS ABOUT GRACE AND TRUTH - Baruch Moaz - Israel
Grace and Truth commenced its weekly Sabbath services in Ashkelon June. So far we have had excellent attendance (over 50 adults) and a good spirit in spite of the disappointment felt and expressed by some over our non-Charismatic, Reformed way of doing things. The people worship in song and prayer with humble devotion and attend to the preaching of the work of God with much earnestness. The question and answer periods which always follow sermons are somewhat livelier than usual in Rishon LeTsion, where so many pressing questions have had the opportunity to be aired, discussed and explained. In Ashkelon there are
many who never attended our services in Rishon LeTsion or who did so infrequently.
In God's good providence, a family moved into the city just before we commenced services there. Reformed, committed to serving and eager to find a reformed church, they immediately attached themselves to Grace and Truth and have now made their large home available to us for the weekly services. Our prayer now is that the Lord will be pleased to grant us competent local leadership, so we can take the next step and constitute the Ashkelon group a church in Christ.
