Grace Prayer Bulletin # 44

A ministry of The King's Chapel

Grace Prayer Bulletin # 44

2-21-99
First I wish to thank those who assisted in the recovery of the files that
were lost in our computer crash.
Second, we had our first "attack" by a "worm" which like a virus but not
harmful. I will present a short policy next week that hopefully address
this problem, before it becomes a real problem.
This week we are featuring a missionary family in Italy. The Gilmores.
Gilmores are currently in the UK finishing their furlough, this summer they
will return to Sicily.

An overview of family and ministry news during 1998
"...looking to Jesus!" (Heb.12:2)

Looking back to 1998 there is one truth which has been a blessing to us.
Three young men were thrown into a hyper-heated furnace. There, Shadrac,
Meshac and Abednego, in the midst of a hot situation, experienced wonderful
liberation. The fourth man went into the furnace with them, freed them in
the fire and then freed them from the fire. Liberation occurred long before
the flames were left. They were so free that together they were able to walk
in the fire and be unscathed from the fire - to the point that they did not
even bear the smell of the fire!
That is amazing. That is what we desire.
Our flames are may be a lot smaller, but we have often been in a furnace.
The intensity of the battle is great and often we long for liberation from
the heat. Instead, freedom often begins in the flames. That is the wonder of
it. He is able whilst not changing circumstances - of unshackling us and
allowing us to endure, whatever.
Pray with us that this might be true for us, too.

FAMILY NEWS
Since August 98 we have been in N.E. London, in the UK. We are taking a
long-overdue furlough. God has wonderfully provided accommodation, schooling
for the children and good medical assistance. During this time we have a
number of aims: rest, physical recovery, receiving expert advice and help
for Rossana, completion of Bible College studies for Jonathan and renewed
fellowship with supporters, churches, friends and family.

Annette: We finally have a diagnosis: CFS / ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
/Myalgic Encephalitis). At least we know. There is no quick, easy remedy. I
must learn to recover depleted energy and then wisely administer it. Some
days are worse than others, though I am forced to spend much of my time
resting.

Rossana (8): After a good year in Grans special school I am now really
enjoying going to a special Observation and Assessment Unit. I'm not in a
big
class and my teachers do all sorts of nice things with us. For Christmas I
had a big new pink bike. Its lots of fun. I love going to the library and
getting piles of books out I really enjoy reading. Just
think, I am 8 years old now!

Alex (5): I enjoyed going to Auntie Debbies nursery/kindergarten, but now
I'm in an English school. In my class only two of us have white skin,
though. All the others are Ahmed, Samra, Muhammed.. My favorite pastimes
are: riding my new blue bicycle, playing football, asking questions, finding
out how things work and running. In beginning to read a bit but it is hard
work. Its really fun when I can go down to London. One day my daddy took me
to the London Transport Museum.

Kristin (3): I am three years old now. But don't think that just because I'm
the youngest in the family I don't make myself heard. I've got quite a
voice,
you know. And I've got my "Fairy princess" bike. I went to Debbies school
too. Only two or three times a week, but I really enjoyed that. Then, when I
came to England I went to nursery. They said Id become part of the
furniture! I just love dressing up and wearing long dresses. What do I want
most? To go back to Venetico Marina!

Jonathan: Of all the family probably I have remained the fittest! It has
been a year of juggling. Family needs must be met and the added
responsibility of mothering (when Annette is out of action) is a challenge
in itself. In these last few months I have finally been able to get down to
try and catch up with studies and that has been good. A season of jogging
did good, but caused knee pain. What now? And the midriff battle goes on!

PUBLIC MINISTRY NEWS
The miracle of 1998 is that public ministry has continued. True, family
ministry has become increasingly challenging, but we are amazed how God has
blessed. The activities may have been fewer, but there have been great
encouragements.
Local ministry. Our dear friend Cordula has had a mixed year. Her husband
has certainly softened his position and for this we rejoice; the situation,
however, is far from stable. Continue praying. She is currently in Germany
where she awaits the birth of their third child.
Regional ministry. During March we organized, within the IES framework, a
Youth Weekend. This saw a record 100+ participants and God moved in many
lives. Our IES annual reunion was attended by 300+ people.
National ministry. One of the exciting developments of the year has been the
consolidation and development of FEMI (The Fellowship of Evangelical
Missionaries in Italy). We were able to constitute formally as a religious
association. We have already more than 25 members. During November we staged
the first FEMI conference and enjoyed a time of rich blessing. God has
enabled us to create a General Council to 'steer' the project and we have
exciting projects ahead!
We also want to share that we have finally been joined in Sicily by
fellow-missionaries: the Gaunt family. PTL!

LOOKING AHEAD - 1998
Until Summer 99 we will be remaining in the UK. This has proved possible and
advisable for several reasons: Annette has good medical support and Rossana
is able to have a full school year in a specialized Assessment and
Observation Unit.
During these months, then, we will continue to be based in N.E. London, in
the UK.
We will be able, to a degree, to visit supporters, churches and friends in
the UK during the next months. If anyone is interested in such a visit,
please contact us.

Our coming schedule looks something like this:
Spring: FEMI Committee in Italy
Summer: Ministry in Malta; Evangelistic team ministry in Italy; Youth
camp in southern Italy
Autumn: back to normal, conferences..

PRAYER AND PRAISE
For Annettes health - that she may find energy and manage it wisely
For Rossana - that the input from professionals might benefit her
development
For our time in the UK - that the goals and aims might be accomplished
Pray that God might continue to supply all our needs.
