A ministry of The King's Chapel

Grace Prayer Bulletin #42
Mark Summers in Quito, Ecuador sent the following prayer request:
Greetings from Quito. Yes, I would really like you all to pray...
1. for a Pastors' Workshop which I will be coordinating March 15-18, 1999 in Otavalo, Ecuador. There will be at least 25 participants and possible 30 (25 participants and 5 listeners). I have one person that I have been working with, Favio Pe¤a that I want to be there also.
2. for good organization, prepared hearts and great Biblical teaching and personal application for each participant.
3. Nancy and I are coordinating the follow-up sessions for Pastors' workshops this year. We are scheduling 4 sessions here in our APOYO conference room. We will be personally inviting from our workshops persons who show potential and deep interest in growing and more in-depth Biblical instruction. Please pray consistently and fervently for us. We want to really produce eternal fruit this year in our personal
ministry and here in APOYO as a team.
5. Pray for teamwork and unity here in APOYO.

Cody and Walter Groover missionaries in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. They serve with Sovereign Grace Foreign Missions. The following is excerpts from their letters from their web page.

From Walter Groover:
We are grateful for your friendship and your support of us in the ministry. It is a great privilege and responsibility to preach the Gospel of Gods Sovereign Grace here in Yucatan, Mexico.
Our son Cody and one of the students in the Preachers' School are preaching this week in another state in Mexico. He called us today from Chiapas, Mexico, where they are preaching, to tell us that they were having good services and would be baptizing three people in the river the following day. One is Perla, the daughter of Carmelita, and another is Chucho, the son of Marta and Armando. They are both in their early twenties.

From Cody Groover:
I am thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness to His word in His purpose to be merciful to some through the preaching of the gospel. I just returned from a visit with the brethren in Chiapas . This was the third trip I have made since the month of June. I am thankful for this door of opportunity to preach in this neighboring state. The last two trips have been by plane, which is much safer than by bus or by car. It was a special
trip for me as three believers confessed the Lord in baptism. They had heard the gospel from the time they were young. Milton Howard planted, many others watered, but God gave the increase. I am bound to give thanks to God for these brethren.
Brother Jose Eduardo from Dzidzantún -- a student in the preachers' school here in Merida -- accompanied me on this trip. I believe the Lord is raising this man up to be a preacher. He spoke from Isaiah 9:6 and Romans 5:6 and preached the gospel clear and plain. We continue to meet in Merida three times a week for worship services. I trust the Lord will be pleased to raise up a church in His time. Roman Catholicism is strongly rooted in the culture in Mexico and idolatry is in the heart of all unregenerate people. It takes the power of God to command the light to shine into the darkness of our hearts, to give us the knowledge of the glory of God in the person and work of Jesus Christ and Him alone. I spoke with a woman yesterday, a strong Catholic who reads her Bible and says she is a believer, yet she puts her trust in Mary. This is spiritual wickedness against which we battle.

I was highly encouraged by the tone in their letters.
