Grace Prayer Bulletin # 102
March 31, 2000

Jason and Jamima Deutsh - India mailto:JADeutsch@compuserve.com
The Deutsh family is planning to be make a brief trip to the USA in order to
be
present at the FIRE Conference in Chicago. They hope to be giving a visual
representation of the work that God has allowed them to do during the course
of this year. God willing they will arrive the 26th of April and depart
again
for India on the 23rd of May.
Jason added this as a part of letter:
"Lastly, I had mentioned the Anti-Conversion Acts being passed in various
states. One of those states called Orissa, where G. Staines & his sons were
murdered, has gone one step further passing legislation requiring all
churches, organizations, etc. to submit a comprehensive list of all
"conversions" during the last 5 years for investigation. Please keep these
things in your prayers."

Paul Cooper - Mission trip to Indonesia - From: Open Bible Baptist Church -
Terra Haute, Indiana - mailto:cooperp@citrine.indstate.edu
After thinking that he would be going to China for outreach Paul sent this
note:
"They think Indonesia would better suit me. So I am very excited about
that. I have been studying the area on the Internet. I am still expecting
to get more information then I have now. Right now I know I leave for San
Francisco for a week for training on June 17th and then I fly to Indonesia
until July 20th. It's with Elijah teams which is connected with the
International Missions Board. Their website is
http://www.goe-teams.com/index.html
This is their real basic description of what I'll be doing:
Southeast Asia: Sports and ESL Join this flexible and adventurous team to
a remote
seaside town to work among English language students who have little
Christian witness. Low-key relational witnessing will be used to share the
Gospel. As a part of a team of 10 Paul's Web Page:

We were sent the following early last week, it is our loss and Fouzi's gain:
FOUZI AYOUB KILLED
The little world of evangelical Christians in the British Isles is shocked
today (Thursday 23rd March) to hear that Fouzi Ayoub of Arabic Evangelical
Centre in Wolverhampton, was killed yesterday in a car crash in distant
Mali where he had gone last week-end for a week of ministry.
Fouzi had come from the Middle East to the Bible College of Wales in
Swansea almost forty years ago and in the Principality he had picked up
that trace of a Welsh accent in his wonderful distinctive voice. For many
years he was a school teacher in the Midlands but all the time his burden
for fellow Arabs was growing. The work grew which he began - sending out to
Muslims all over the world Arabic gospels, New Testaments and other
literature. Eventually he had to go full time into this work, answering the
hundreds of letters which were sent to him by people for whom the absence
of a Saviour was the huge vacuum at the centre of Islam. He went to north
Africa and visited the people who wrote to him. All of it was done quite
secretly. Offices and a team of volunteers assisted him. Others accompanied
him on his visits to the Middle East, his van loaded with Christian books.
The offices also housed his own library of puritan and reformed books.
Fouzi's coming to address a meeting was an occasion not to be missed and to
be remembered for the rest of your life. Hardly another man in our circles
has that gift of lifting up a whole meeting, transforming the morale of a
wilting congregation, sending the people home talking of the challenge of
gospel outreach to the Islamic world newly enthused and revitalized. Fouzi
was larger than life. How much that was due to his own dynamic personality
and how much to the fullness of the Spirit of God no man is able to say,
but under God he ministered to people with a vitality which brought the
spirit of the early church into many quiet dejected companies. He had the
same impact on young people when he spoke at camps of the Evangelical
Movement of Wales. Fouzi loved his Lord and Saviour and that warm affection
was contagious.
West Park Evangelical Church in Wolverhampton was his home church, and its
pastor, Gareth Crossley, now has the awesome task of comforting that
perplexed and grief-filled congregation. Surely God has given them the wine
of astonishment to drink.
Fouzi's wife Wendy herself called me, astonishingly, this afternoon, to
inform me of the grievous news (as if the Christian grape vine would not
have told me already from half a dozen e mails and phone calls through the
morning). "I had to tell you that he would not be speaking at the Grace
Baptist Assembly in May." I was more than touched at this grace and she
told me that she was finding strength. In Mali they usually bury the body
the same day as that on which the death has occurred. Today the
temperature there was 102 degrees. But the Ambassador was seeking to bring
Fouzi back to the UK for burial. She had committed that to God. "Fouzi
would not have taken kindly to old age," she said. "He is all right. He has
got there before us." He was in his sixtieth year.
To our sovereign and compassionate Saviour we commend Wendy, her son and
the two grandchildren. May the Lord guide the trustees concerning the
future of this work which was so closely identified with this giant of a
man.
Thanks to GEOFF THOMAS for sending this. mailto:113040.2474@compuserve.com

From: Homerton Baptist Church, Homerton, London, UK
mailto:pastor.hbc@solfa.co.uk http://www.solfa.co.uk/hbc/
Pastor Steven Richards sent this to us: "If you are not familiar with us
already we are situated in Hackney in East London. Hackney is an Inner City
Borough and is one of the most deprived Boroughs in the whole of the
country. I am Steven Richards and I have been Pastor of the Church for
nearly 14 years. Our Church membership is 39 and our average congregation is
62. We have a number of different countries and cultures represented in the
church. We are a Grace Baptist Church, holding to the 1966 Strict Baptist
Affirmation of Faith and are members of the Association of Grace Baptist
Churches and have very close links with Grace Baptist Mission.
On this occasion we are sharing a particular request concerning one of our
members as follows:
"Sydney 2000 - The Olympic Games
In September 2000 hundreds of sports men and women and thousands of
spectators will gather in Sydney for Olympic 2000 - the Millennium Games.
Millions of others throughout the world will follow events on radio and
television.
As the competitors gather they do so with one aim in mind to gain the
elusive gold medal. Only very few will achieve this. Even fewer, perhaps,
will acknowledge that there is a far greater aim and that is to be prepared
for eternity. The race of life is one in which every individual is involved
and our concern is that they be directed to the right way to run this race.
A team from 2K+ will be at Sydney interviewing competitors and others
involved in the games. These interviews will then be made available to radio
stations throughout the world including commercial stations in the UK. 2K+
aim to give everyone opportunity to hear sports events broadcast with a
Christian perspective. It is well known that the average person is much more
inclined to listen to sports programs rather than religious programs. We
see this as a God given opportunity to present the gospel in a way that will
be listened to.
One of our members, Bec Richards, has been given the opportunity to join the
2K+ Sydney team for the duration of the Olympics. In order to do so she
needs financial support, as the church is unable to fund the trip. If you
are able to give help in anyway that would be greatly valued. Above all
please do pray for this venture that it might prove to be truly effective in
presenting Jesus Christ.
2K+ International Sports Media is part of the sports ministry commitment of
Focus Radio. Focus Radio was established in 1976 to produce programs for
international evangelism."

News from Brian & Necy Ellis, Philippines mailto:btellis@info.com.ph
GRACE MINISTERIAL ACADEMY
There is a particular need for someone to teach the New Testament class next
semester which is on the Synoptic Gospels. Neither of the men who have been
teaching this course will be available next semester and it may fall as an
extra load to our principal Noel Espinosa. However we have been making
inquiries as to whether
someone from abroad could come for three months July through September to
teach the course. (Someone who reads this letter may be available if so
please contact us.)
Noel Espinosa is also looking for a better house at the present time. He
currently uses his kitchen/living room as his study (there is only one room
downstairs) and any visitors to the home mean an interruption for him.
Housing in this area is very expensive. Please pray they can find a house
where he can have a small study.
CHRISTIAN COMPASSION MINISTRIES
We are planning to move all our girls to the new home by April 24 or 25
following the REBAP Camp during Easter. We also have our DVBS for children
at the church from April 10 to 15 so we will not have to transport all the
children to Cubao.
CUBAO REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH
Please uphold Pastor Mon Macapagal in particular as we leave, God willing on
April 5 for 2 months in the UK. This means an added load for Pastor Mon.
The men in the church with preaching gifts will also be under more pressure
and have to take more responsibility as we supply the pulpits in Baguio City
and Tondo each week. Continue to uphold these two church planting works
which are very encouraging. Continue also to pray for the four evangelistic
Bible Studies which are ongoing in our area.
There are also increasingly cries for help and many opportunities to help
other churches which are moving to a reformed position. Please pray for
wisdom and the men to lead such works. Please pray that God will send
laborers into His harvest field.
April 10-15 is the Daily Vacation Bible School. Please pray for the teachers
and helpers. Last year we had about 200 children in attendance. Many of
these come from our contacts with CCM. Pray for the parents Day on the
Saturday that a good number of adults will attend the preaching of the
gospel.
PERSONAL
We leave,God willing, on April 5 for the UK and are expected to be back in
the Philippines June 14. We have a very busy schedule in the UK with
meetings most days up until June 1 when we plan a 10 day break before our
return. (Some may be unaware that Brian no longer has any known relatives in
the UK).
We will have very little time even with our own church. We are scheduled to
visit 35 churches. We would value your prayers that this visit we be
profitable and be an encouragement to the faithful supporters of the work.
Above all that we may bring glory to our gracious Lord and that praises may
be given unto Him.
