Grace Prayer Bulletin # 86
December 11, 1999
"For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ
crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but
to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and
the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:22-24, NKJ)
A few have graciously sent Missionary contacts in the last few weeks, I
wanted to thank them publicly for this and hope many may follow suit, we
are here to share as many works laboring in "the Word of His grace."
Brian and Yoko Broaddus - Japan - Shimonoseki Christ Bible Church

Brian and Yoko are in southwestern Japan Church establishing and planting.
There is much need for the planting of Grace Churches established on
preaching the whole counsel of God. Brian currently teaching about six to
seven English/Bible classes per week. He has about forty students in these
classes and is praying for conversion amongst them. There is a great demand
for English classes in Japan as in other nations in the Far East. The
opportunity for short term is there, but a great need is for long term
mission work by men who are elder qualified and therefore, gifted to teach
God's word in what would hopefully become long term spiritual relationships.
Brian is thankful that God has given them a band of true prayer warriors for
us and the people of Japan.
Brian gives God praise that they were are able to get visas and make Christ
know without little outward opposition. The greater need in Japan is that
the Japanese people are apathetic, and that they would turn their apathy
into concern for their own souls. Another prayer concern that Brian lifted
up was the existing Churches would be built up spiritually and strengthened
for the work needed in Japan. Many of the Churched in Japan have a
Christian name and deny the power that accompanies a true regeneration.
It seems that God is moving the hearts of believers and our missionary team
to places where God seems to be at work. Pray for Ube City and for the
other missionaries who are already there and how their church might partner
with them. Brian and Yoko desires God's wisdom in reaching a small fishing
island where Yoko's Grandmother lives would show Yoko and I what He desires
for the island of Ooshima. There is an opportunity for Brian to go on-air
again on our local FM radio station. Pray that God would give Brian the
opportunity to broadcast a gospel message program for people to hear in this
region.
Peter Law - Aman, Jordan
Peter has assumed some more responsibility in Aman. The Pastor of 45 years
has retired and left at short notice. He says though that thing seem to
running well in transition.
The Hashemi church has been encouraging, with clear growth in people's
lives, and generally more commitment to each other and the church. Two
particular areas for prayer:
a) It is hard for many to put obedience to Christ above the desire for their
own material well-being and earthly advancement. Pray for a clear sense of
priority, that their might be true godliness and not worldliness;
b) A couple of key people in the fellowship will be leaving at the end of
the year. It will leave holes in the Sunday School and ladies work in
particular. Pray for some of the younger believers to be willing to take up
more responsibility.
Peter's teaching at the seminary has been great fun (and profitable I
trust!) over the past year. He has taught "Introduction to Theology" to a
large class in the spring semester. Peter has been teaching this study to
smaller groups of students as well as the Seminary classes. He has taught a
group of students from Iraq as well as Sudan, plus other various Arab
countries.
Partly as a result of contact with students at the seminary, Peter has been
invited more regularly to teach/preach at other churches. A couple of other
churches in particular have asked me to help them develop their own teaching
and training. Pray for the Lord's paths of fruitfulness.
