CJ terms 2007 vital in Pakistan's history
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhery has termed the current year a vital one in the history of Pakistan, as he believes every electoral year proves important for any country, saying that judiciary will gain more trust from the citizens in 2007.
Addressing a dinner ceremony hosted in his honour from Pakistan Supreme Court's lawyers association here Wednesday, he said he believes in freedom of judiciary and collaboration of judiciary and bar is inevitabe for the supremacy of law and the constitution.
He maintained that the judiciary would keep working for the supremacy of the law, for it has no agenda and nothing to do with any specific programme.
Munir A Malik, the association's president, informed Justice Chaudhery about the problems usually faced by lawyers. Justice Chaudhery assured him of taken such matters into his consideration.
