Below is a short Bio of Fran’s Odyssey in Portland furniture:
Frances Johnson moved to Portland OR in 1995. Always interested in antiques and old china, she began selling from The Gold Door off Hawthorne Blvd. It wasn’t long opened her own shop, Endangered Species, also on Hawthorne. After six years of success in mid-century and retro furniture, she decided to split from her business partner, and moved to Foster Road, and “It’s Frans Vintage Advantage” was born.
After four years on Foster, Frans moved to the Hollywood District, and now shares a building with a business called Hollywood Reruns. Hollywood Reruns includes many businesses, one of which is Periodicals Paradise, and others named Pine Paradise and Paradise Past. These businesses provide magazine back issues, unfinished pine furniture, and more retro furniture. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary for the Hollywood area, this is the place.
Frans Vintage Advantage has now been open for a year in on NE 42nd, and with all the things to look at, furniture, paperback books, videos, and old magazines there is a lot to shop for. (Inexpensive videos make good stocking stuffers) All the vendors here love the area, and now that road construction is over, we are much easier to get to. In addition the new “Whole Foods” store, coming in should boost appeal of our inner city hamlet.
“It’s Frans Vintage Advantage” looks to serve you with a friendly smile, for many years to come.
