This is a fan site devoted to another website. That site is www.historicgolf.com. When searching for unique pictures or photos of golfers I found it difficult to find a really good site. Most were unorganized or hard to search. This website I have linked to has the widest selection of golfers and courses I have seen, but since it is a database driven the search engines don't seem to index it well. I ran in to it accidently after looking at an edwin watts golf store website and I saw this tiny link from it. It was the first time I had ever seen it. I had searched for pictures of golfers like Gary Player pictures before on yahoo and nothing substanial even came up. It felt like a hit a goldmine when I found this site.
The collection at www.historicgolf.com inculdes one of a kind golf photos of legendary golfers like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Tiger Woods, Bobby Jones, Jimmy Demaret, and Byron Nelson among the 600+ golfers they have in their collection. Feel free to search thier site and find photos of golfers well known and some not so well known. Our website is only a taste of our actual collection. Quick golf history: Bobby Jones built the Augusta National golf club after finally finding 365 acres of land that had been used for a nursery for more than 70 years. This course was the first one made to be a spectator course. It also has some of the fastest greens in golf. The 12th hole is the nightmare hole at Augusta. It is known as one of the hardest short holes in golf. Tom Weiskopf once scored a 10 over par on this hole. This remains the highest score ever recored on any hole in Masters Tournament history. The website linked at the bottom has some of the best pictures of Augusta I have ever seen. The 12th hole is probably one of the best golf course pictures they have from Augusta National golf course pictures.

Their internet site only has 11,500+ photos of the 350,000 in their collection. Golf course pictures are also easily found on their website. They have pictures from almost every Masters tournament pictures ever played at the Augusta National golf course in Georgia. They even have vintage golf photos dating back to the 1800's.
One of their most popular pictures is commonly referred to as "the smoking picture" with Palmer and Hogan standing together at the 1966 Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
