Going The Distance
Going the Distance is my experience of training for my first ironman distance triathlon - The Longest Day Triathlon on July 18th 2004.
The ironman distance triathlon consists of a:
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike
26.2 mile run
all in a cut-off time of between 15 hours and 17 hours (depending on the event).
I have been racing triathlon on and off since 1996.
In 2003 after deciding to start competing in triathlon again I joined the Kingston based Kingfisher Triathlon Club.
After completing the Ballbuster Duathlon later in 2003 I decided that I wanted to compete in long distance racing.
It was time to go long, time to go the distance.
