A large crowd was on hand to witness two great teams of the Girls Varsity Division: The powerful HESCHEL team and the resurgent FLATBUSH team. HESCHEL managed to control the first half leading 19-11 at its end. When FLATBUSH returned from their halftime break, they began their comeback: scoring 15 points in the third quarter trailing only 27-26 entering the final quarter. The fourth quarter was nip and tuck for a good part.
With 2:00 remaining in the game FLATBUSH was down by three points, 32-29.. Rita Wahba hit a beautiful jump shot to bring FLATBUSH within one point. With 1:30 remaining in the game, Leora Prince was fouled and hit one of two foul shots to tie the game at 32 HESCHEL successfully inbounded the ball and tried to bring the ball down court. Rita Wahba intercepted a pass and drove for a lay up to put FLATBUSH ahead 34-32 Leora Prince was fouled two more times and converted on foul shots for the final margin Hitgh scorers for FLATBUSH were Jaclyn Lubin(12), Leora Prince(11) and Rita Wahba(7).

This was a well fought game and a great effort from both teams.After a close first quarter up 10-9, HESCHEL came out with a strong rebounding game that led to 19-9 first half score.
Leah Kahan(16), Ilana Mauskopf(7, and 17 Rebounds), and Anniele Fredman(7, and 10 Rebounds) , supported by the guards Talia Kula, Dani Saad, and Mia Applebaum were the key ingredients to HESCHEL’s victory. Leora Prince(9) led FLATBUSH.
