My name is Dr.George E. King ND.,Ph.D.,AADP and I am a Naturopathic Doctor in Rhode Island. I have a Doctorate in Psychology, also additional training in the Holistic Therapies including Certification in Herbalism, Homeopathy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Nutrition and Acupressure.
I am a Personal Life and Wellness Coach, Certified AMFPT Personal Fitness Trainer, Sports Nutritionist, Cardio Kickboxing Aerobic Instructor, and Health Club Manager.
Internationally known Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner by the AADP, and Alternative and Complementary Medicine Consultant.

The question is often asked. What is a Holistic Health or Alternative Health Practitioner? A good answer , but not the only one is, a Practitioner who is well qualified in his/her field of practice; who provides education and information on the value of the Holistic approach to health care. Also on how these natural approaches to restoring Wellness and maintaining optimum health, without unwanted side effects; can be of great benefit to the individual.
WHAT IS NATUROPATHY?
Nature has the power to heal. Naturopathy is a natural treatment method that stimulates the body's own inherent healing abilities.
THE CAUSE OF ILLNESS IS TREATED , NOT THE SYMPTOMS.
The Naturopathic Practitioner uses interventions to treat underlying causes of disease.
NATUROPATHY USES A "DRUGLESS" APPROACH TO TREATMENT.
A fever is seen as a healthy response to an invading virus or bacteria. The Naturopath treats the fever by supporting the body system involved , for instance , the immune system in this case.
THERAPIES FREQUENTLY USED BY THE NATUROPATH.
These include diet,nutrition, exercise,lifestyle modifications, nutritional supplements, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Counseling and more.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Naturopathy treats the person, not the disease. The Naturopathic Doctor views the disease as as the imbalance of healthy function in the body's system and the body's attempt to heal itself. Therapeutic interventions that support the body's inherent ability to heal, such as diet, nutrition, exercise regimen, lifestyle, work and personal history, are all considered when determining a treatment plan.

Treats the whole person.
Teaches health skills.
Believes prevention is better than cure.

THE KAVA SCENARIO.
Some countries are re-considering the ban placed on Kava in 2002; in light of a positive report by Phytopharm Herb Co., of Berlin.
Also Prince Charles of England, a long time proponent of Natural Therapies, reported that some believe that problems caused by Kava; might have been the result of the extraction process techniques used at that time.
In November of 2003 the Welsh National Assembly reversed the Kava ban, and allowed the product back on the store shelves.
The National Association of Health Food Stores, that pushed for the ban reversal of Kava in Wales, is now gearing up to resist the highly restrictive European Union Food Supplement proposed Directive.
FREEDOM OF CHOICE!
