My '58 Metropolitan Restoration Page
This photo was taken at the All British Car Day (ABCD) show in Dallas on April 24, 2005. This is the most Mets we've had in recent years; nine total.

The Metropolitan was produced from 1954 to 1962 by the Austin Car Company in Longbridge, England for Nash (of America).
I bought my first Metropolitan in April 2001. I've been an avid fan of these peculiar little machines since I was a boy and saw my first in a junkyard. Since finding my "pride and joy," I've redone the electricals underhood, rebuilt the entire brake system, replaced the Zenith with a Weber 32ict, had all the chrome re-done, the interior trim powder-coated and had it repainted.
There's an interesting story behind my car. It was originally purchased by a man in Garland, Texas (suburb of Dallas, next to Mesquite where I live now). He drove the car for about 10 years, then passed it on to his son going away to college in Southern California. The son, studying to be a doctor, was called to war, but never returned home. The father retrieved the car and held onto it for another 20 years, then sold it to Mr. Darling, whom I bought the car from. When I removed the windows, I carefully cleaned them and asked Kip Motor Company to handle them carefully upon reinstallation, so as not to disturb the parking stickers valid through '66 - '67 for El Camino College. I'm keeping the stickers as a remembrance for the son who lost his life during war.
