Fusileers Fife & Drum Corps, Inc.

The Fusileers Fife and Drum Corps is again sponsoring their “ADOPT A SOLDIER FOR THE HOLIDAYS” program. Last year more than 5000 individual gifts were sent to our military in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as any U.S. soldier serving overseas for the holidays.

Any donations of TRAVEL SIZE toiletries - small hand-held games - non-perishable snacks and crackers - playing cards - yo-yos - etc. will be greatly appreciated. Myers Corners Elem. School last year donated the students’ Halloween candy in a buy-back program and we received over 500 lbs. of candy from that school. This year several other schools have committed to this same buy-back program. We will NOT be needing additional candy as I think this is a great opportunity for the students to take part in a personal way. In addition to the candy , local schools and churches have also donated letters and cards made by the students and each gift we send contains at least one greeting from a youngster.

One of our biggest expenses is the postage. I understand there is a bill in Congress to avoid this situation, but it probably won’t be passed before the holidays. So postage money is a big part of this program since last year we spent over $2000 in shipping the gifts. Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated by the Fusileers but more importantly by our brave men and women serving overseas.
