WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE HOLY FACE?
The large Family of Friends of the Holy Face makes up the branch of the affiliated members of the community of Adorers of the Holy Face of Jesus.
They are first and foremost Christians, true Christians who do more than Sunday Christians. They participate in Mind and Hear in the great mystery of Redemption.
In work and prayer, by their whole life, the Friends desire to reach goal set by Christ for all the baptized: "Be perfect as the Father is Perfect".
The Friends give their lives a "tint" and "accent" of reparation. They consecrate their lives to the Glory of God and the Salvation of souls. They are deeply united to the Suffering Christ, and desire to work for the Redemption of the world. They understand the importance of prayer and devote long periods every day before the Holy Face according to their possibilities.
They want to make reparation:
For swearing and blasphemy
For the non sanctification of Sunday
For the disrespect to human dignity in all its forms...(euthanasia, abortion, prostitution, pornography...)
WHY THE HOLY FACE ?
The Holy Face of Jesus is the center of their spirituality. The Holy Spirit helps us to better Holy Spirit helps us to better discover the heart, Sentiments, and Reality of Christ's Love for us, through the contemplation of his Face. The Friends contemplate his Face, receiving a deep impression of it within themselves in order to Reveal it by their Being in the world, each according to their work and particular talents.
WHAT IS THE MAIN COMMITMENT ?
It is a promise to do a QUARTER of an hour of reparatory adoration to concretely unite oneself to Christ REDEEMER. The Friend live with the certitude that they are CO-redeemers ever since baptism. They want to be collaborators in Redemption. They offer their joys and sorrows, every day, FOR THE SALVATION OF OUR WORLD.
It is certain that many have the chance to attend Mass daily and do recite the Rosary. It is hoped, that the Friends frequent the Sacraments regularly, according to the Church, especially the Eucharist and the sacrament of Forgiveness.
Piety must keep in mind one's State in Life which is, let us be reminded, God's First Will for all the baptized. "We attain Salvation only from Within our sate in life"...
The Friends of the Holy Face are particularly aware of this. They accomplish their work with joy and simplicity. They work for a better society by living the christian virtues such as honesty, dedication and punctuality. Where ever possible, they make known and loved the Holy Face.
HOW DO I BECOME A FRIEND OF THE HOLY FACE ?
After one has seriously reflected and has said a novena to Our Lady of Wisdom.
On a set day, a member of the community of Adorers, or a delegate, goes to receive the interested person's verbal promise. This formula is kept in the community's archives. This promise is a commitment on the person's honor and is not held under "Penalty of Sin".
Every two months, the Friend receives documentation to help him/her) understand his vocation and inform him/her on the life of the association. There is a yearly assembly where everyone makes an effort to attend if at all possible.
THE QUARTER OF AN HOUR, HOW IS IT DONE ?
It is not necessary to add fifteen more minutes to your prayers. It is a matter of reserving fifteen minutes for REPARATORY contemplation within your daily prayers. You already know the three main motives for reparation: blasphemy, the lack of respect for a day of rest on Sunday, and the disrespect of human dignity.
WE MAY THEREFORE:
Silently contemplate the Icon of the Holy Face
Read and meditate a few passages from the passion
Say the "rosary of the Holy Face" before the Icon.
Pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, asking Mary to present our reparation to the Father.
Recite the Litany of the Holy Face
Adore the Blessed Sacrament in a church or chapel.
Perform an act of charity such as visiting the sick, the poor.
Offer our communion in reparation, offering fifteen minutes in prayer of thanksgiving.
LOVE IS CREATIVE, and Jesus will tell us, in prayer, how to do our quarter of an hour every day.
LET US BE FAITHFUL FOR THIS IS THE HEART OF OUR VOCATION IN THE CHURCH. The salvation of souls depends upon our generosity !
SITIO ! I THIRST FOR SOULS !
Living united to Christ, in his Sight, is to live an authentic Christianity. Our baptism demands that we go to the very end of the christian adventure which is to become Saints. It is the vocation of all Christians.
The soul progressing in the ways of sanctity cannot forget his past. His sins, his going astray, appear as a time of no love or of little love. This reality bears in the heart of those who seek God, the desire to do BETTER AND MORE, to concretely express regrets and contrition for past mistakes. God's Love is so TOTAL and our response of so little generosity, that we must make an effort to LOVE more, for ourselves and for others. This is the personal aspect of the Life of Reparation. We must also consider the communal aspect of Reparation which stems from the reality of the MYSTICAL BODY.
Around us, there is a lot of evil, indifference, profanation and contempt for the things of God. We cannot remain insensitive. GOD IS NOT LOVED ENOUGH ! The Face of Jesus is "covered in spit, dust and blood..." The Friends of the Holy Face want to compensate for this lack of love by making of their lives an ACT OF OFFERING TO THE MERCIFUL LOVE for the salvation of souls. We cannot all go to preach the Word of God, or go to the mission, etc.... WE CAN ALL LOVE and offer our life generously so that God may be honored. This is the why of our vocation. REPARATION is vital in the Church for it is the highest form of Praise and Adoration.
Our spirituality comes from Gospel's teachings, from the Church's teachings. "If you only knew how much the sight of my Face is delightful to my Father..." (Jesus to Sr St-Pierre)
Our motto is "Veni Domine Jesu" Come Lord Jesus ! In prayer and joyful penance, we desire the return in Glory of Christ Perfect Praise to the Father in whom our praise find satisfaction before God.
OUR LADY OF WISDOM
Mary is the way leading us safely to Jesus. She gives us Jesus, the Eternal Wisdom. To invoke Mary, with this title, is to express our trust in her for being the guide and teacher in our quest for God and the things of God.
Novena to Mary, Mother of Wisdom
Hail Virgin Mary, tender mother of God and of men. By your "YES" we have known Jesus, the Savior of men and we have been able to welcome Salvation. Transform us into true brothers (sisters) of Jesus Christ. LOVING what He loves; DESIRING what He desires; ACCOMPLISHING in all things HIS WILL for us. Our Lady, Mother of Wisdom, fashion within us the Image of your Son who is the Lord for ever and ever.. AMEN.
