Daughter of John Oliver and Winnie Reese Poole, born on August 17, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee and has lived in various places. She grew up in Memphis, where she attended the Reliegh Baptist Church until 12 years of age and then joined the Broadmoor Baptist Church. She was a member there until she married (1971) and then she moved (with new husband Dan, a Navy 2nd Class radar technician) to Jacksonville, Florida (for Dan's duty with VA-174, NAS Cecil Field, and VA-37) where they become members of the Calvary Baptist Church. In 1978 she and her family, Rev. Dan Eidson, Amy, and Daniel, began their ministerial work and have since then lived in Hazelhurst, Georgia; Drummonds, Tennessee; Alma, Georgia; Vidalia, Georgia; and now live in Chula, Georgia (since 1989).

She attended the high school in Bartlett and graduated in 1965. She then attended Memphis State University and graduated with a degree in math (B.S.) in 1970. She then graduated with a MAT degree from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida; Specialist Degree from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia.

She has taught in the following schools:
