The Prophecy Page IV:Elections
If you are a true Christian your government is not of this world. John 17:14-17; 18:36-37. Moreover, if you are a true Christian you posess the capability to discern what form of government you desire to live under. You can transform that desire into reality via prayer, and obedience to God's laws. Scripture states, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God. Whosoever therefore resisteh the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves greater damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power ? do that which is good and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for the good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid: for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore, ye needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. Romans 13:1-5.
From the following reference in scripture we learn God governs all, and He gives power to whomever He desires. No one gets power without His approval, and no government can stand without His permission. We should remember that this world (With the express permission of God) is currently under Gentile rulership. The first international superpower to stand in the Gentile era of rule was formally a province of Assyria: Until they overthrew their masters in 608 B.C., and established their own empire. Jeremiah 27.
In accordance with Romans 13:1-5 we should adhere to a governments rules, regulations, principles, and laws provided they donot conflict with the Lord's supreme rule. The Apostle Peter explains, "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake:whether it be to the king as supreme: Or unto the governors, as unto them that are sent by Him for punishment of evil doers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God". 1 Peter 2:13-16. Not only does scripture call for obedience to government rule, but it warns rulers not to be abusive with their powers: They should not use their authority to commit malicious acts. 2 Kings 21:1-18; 2 Chron. 33;1-20. Every man and woman will be judged according to the Lord's standards. Galatians 5:19-26; Ephesians 5:3-18; Revelation 22:14-15. God is a God of love, and He does not want a rebellious mankind to harm themselves by seeking to go it alone. Nahum 1:7; Mark 8:34-38; John 3:16. It is God whom determines the extent of a nations boundaries, as well as, whom shall rule it's subjects. Jeremiah 1:10; 18:7-10. It is also the will of God that we should pray for righteous rulers to come to power. We should also be interested in government affairs. Daniel 2:16-23, 28-30, 37-38, 46-49. And, if we donot pray for righteous rulers to come to office, Why should we complain when unrighteous leaders take power ? God will answer our prayers, and He is in full control. Isaiah 40:15-18. Though, many of the nations of the world harness massive amounts of nuclear, and other forms of energy the aforementioned verse reveals how the Lord views the situation. Rarely is an evil leader/government overthrown without external assistance. But, if enough Christians pray/fast, and keep God's commandments the Lord will remove that government, or change it's ways. The Assyrian King Sennechareb found this out to late when he sought to invade Judah. The story is laid out in Isaiah chapters 36-37----It demonstrates the Lord's earnest desire that His people rely on Him for guidance, protection, love, and assistance besides other things.
It illustrates His majestic power as He answers prayer with burning awe. Indeed, a ruler should rely on God. Psalm 148:11-13. I find it rather disturbing that some rulers of this world rely on new age practices we are warned to elude: The evil Nazi ruler Adolf Hitler used astrologers as did the Reagans. And Myammar's (Burma) former military strongman Ne-Win, relied on various mathematical combinations of the #9. Yet, as where God installs rulers He can also judge and remove them----with violence if necessary. When former Babylonian ruler, Belshazzar, ruled in arrogance, and neglected God's ultimate supremacy his kingdom was taken from him and given to the neo-Mede/Persian empire. Isaiah 45:1-6; Habbakuk 2; Daniel 5; Daniel 6:28; 2 Chronicles 36:22-23. Thus a spontaneous insurrection may cause major disruption as well. Judges 13-16. Even in the contemporary era: In 1979, Uganda's Idi Amin was forcibly replaced by a Tanzanian invasion. After his bodyguards got into a shootout with Libyan soldiers he was kicked out of Africa all together. Pol Pot who masterminded genocidal policies in his country, and murdered an estimated 2 million persons--including much of his countries intelligencia was captured in the jungles of Cambodia, tried by opposition factions, and liquidated. Romania's Nicolai Ceausescu, was overthrown by a general population revolt in 1989, tried by patriot rebels, and executed. As for Afghanistan whose Taliban sought to exile and/or murder anyone said to be spreading the gospel of our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ was crushed via a western led invasion and dismantled as a ruling regime. The West ? Scandals have brought many western leaders down. In Turkey, Japan, Italy, and the United States. American President Nixon fell via exposed corruption, and Bill Clinton almost suffered the same fate due to a sexual scandal laced with accusations of a irresponsible foreign policy (The bombings of Afghanistan and the Sudan were said to be diversive tactics regarding the growing scandal. Moreover, his campaign was plagued with charges of illegal funding by China, and stolen nuclear weopons technology was blamed on Chineses agents). Sweden's Olaf Palm was assasinated as was America's J.F.K. before him. The list goes on.....Somalia's Muhammed Siad Barre, Ethiopia's Mariam Mengistu, Mobuto Sese Seko of Zaire, etc.. I am not saying God is the cause of a leaders being removed, since humans are mistake prone. However, nothing occurs without His majestic approval, and rulers should be in sync with His will. Even satan has a highly organized kingdom on it's way out. Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 20:1-3. But, Why prayer to God ? Because not every leader has to be removed: God in His omni-scient methods, can cause a ruler to do something he may not do under ordinary circumstances. Ezra 1;1-4 (42,000 Jews returned to Jerusalem to reestablish the Temple of the Lord); 1 Chronicles 5:25-26 (Time for Israel's punishment); Exodus 4:21, 8:32; Revelation 17:16-17. Why prayer ? Because we are specifically told to pray for the Lord's kingdom non-stop:Let thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. So, Why prayer ? Because...."Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that My Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13-14. Why ? Because..."Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am". Isaiah 58:9. But Why ? Because....Whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 1 John 3:22. The Christians of Mozambique posess the capability to transform their government via prayer and righteousness. The Christians of Taiwan can do the same to the Taiwanese government via prayer and righteouness too. Why ? Because "Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given to Me in heaven and in earth..." Matthew 28:18. Not later, but NOW ! Jesus further told His disciples to teach, and preach the gospel to all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. However, many of those who currently evangelize donot realize what that message Jesus taught is all about. The Old Testament saints looked forward to the birth of the promised Messaiah for salvation. The New Testament saints look backwards to the free gift of the cross where our sins are nailed, and to the shedding of Jesus Christ innocuous blood. His blood covers our sins for the very same salvation. Colossians 2:13-15.
God loves His people, and He has given them the authority to have a more righteous form of government via prayer so that Daniel 2:44/Ephesians 1:20-23 can replace Ephesians 6:12. The gospel's message in a nutshell is that through the spilled blood of Jesus Christ our sins can be forgiven since the Lord served as a sacrifice for those sins. We can live forever in God's coming kingdom. Through love God will soon set up an all powerful government on earth that will rule the vast regions of the whole universe. Mark 1:14-15; Revelation 11:15; Romans 8:14-28; Isaiah 9:6-7.At last, there will be an end to all suffering pain and death. Peace shall reign and administer His government, and rule on a universal plane. Revelation 21:1-5; 22:3-6; Isaiah 55:1-5. So, Elections ? We should pray for righteous rulers during an election year. Prayerfully those leaders will rule their subjects in conjunction with the love of God Himself. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
If you want God's freely offered help in you personal life confess to God that you are a sinner, and that you need His help.
Tell Him that you that you want a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in your life, and that you desire to live forever in His coming kingdom. Tell God that you want to be saved in the name of Jesus Christ. Tell God that you want to be baptised in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. My prayer is that whoever reads this page will be saved in Jesus Christ kingdom forever. Luke 15; Revelation 21:5-8; Micah 7:18-20; Romans 6:23.
