At the Friends of the Passaic River, Inc. our objective is to be instrumental in finding the best ways to gain an appreciation for our River and encourage active use and care of our natural resource. There are numerous leisure activities one can undertake when a clean and healthy estuary is available, they include boating, canoeing, kayaking, crewing, fishing, and swimming.

Unfortunately, years of neglect have made the Passaic River infamous for its pollution, ranking in the top ten as one of America's worst Rivers. Lately, the Passaic has been upgraded from "toxic" to "very poor", but many organizations believe it will get better sooner or later. Better sooner! Introducing The Friends of the Passaic River, Incorporated 1997. We promote ecological and recreational uses and good conservation practices for the River. We have a thorough understanding that in order to revise such a natural resource it will take a well-thought out plan.
