Northeast Aviation Group

The Northeast Aviation Group is a volunteer group that is responsible for the care and feeding of "Ponderous Polly", a Fairchild C-123K "Provider" ser. #54-0592. The very last C-123 to make it out of Vietnam and into Thailand at the end of the war. The C-123K is a large and popular warbird with the airshow crowds.
This aircraft was reclaimed from the desert at the Avra Valley airport near Marana Arizona in 1998, and flown to the Schenectady County Airport (SCH) in upstate New York by its present owner John Curran. The other crew members on the ferry flight were Co-Captain Dick Xander, and Flight Engineers, Ray Zimmons and Mark Hinzman. "Polly" is on the airshow circuit througout the Northeast during the Summer and Fall.
On Novermber 11, 2004, Piloted by John Curran and Mark Riddell, and Flight Engineered by Paul Morrett, "Polly" did a fly-by at SCH in conjunction with Veterans Day ceremonies, and then headed South to its new winter home at the Craven County Regional Airport (EWN) in New Bern, NC.
We will be setting up our Southern Group of volunteers based out of EWN. We will be catching up on some much needed maintenance, cleaning and painting. Possibly doing some airshows.
"Polly" will be returning to SCH in late May or early June and then back to New Bern in November for the Winter and Spring.
