Throw out ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's )

ALS(aka "Lou Gehrig's disease")is a fatal neuromuscular disease that currently affects 30,000 people in the United States. 5,600 new cases of ALS will be diagnosed this year. The life expectancy of an ALS patient is two to five years from the day of diagnosis and I encourage you to fund now,by funding it will directly benefit the national ALS research effort and expanded local patient service programs for those currently diagnosed with ALS.

I would like you to take a moment, to read my "MOTHER'S" bio. to let you get a taste of what she has gone through & why we are praying some day there will be a cure and how you can help.

Biography written by:Crystal L. Hunter

Hi my name is Crystal Hunter and I grew up in a small town called Sharon Springs,Kansas and I moved to Denver,Colorado after graduating from College. In high school I was active in sports, cheerleading, band, vocal singing, twirling and just about anything that was offered I was involved!
My degree in college was Physical Education and while I was in school, I had enlisted in the Army Reserves for three years. Coming to Colorado , I was involved with police work as a correctional officer for the county jail. I am 48 years old, divorced and am blessed with a 19 year old son named Tyler.
In the summer of 1982, I was running in the park and my leg started not working correctly. During the next few weeks I having balance problems, wierd sensations in my fingers and just an overall fatigue that was just draining me. I finally went to the doctor and he said it was probably multiple sclerosis "I sat there not EVEN comprehending".
For the course of two years, I was going on with my life and the body slowly changing where the walking, muscle strength on the upper body and speech was becoming difficult. During those two years, I had married and became pregnant; after Tyler was born, then I went in for testing at the University of Colorado.
There I was all alone in the hospital room sitting on the bed when the doctor came in. He proceeded to let me know that I had ALS and two to three years would probably be the life I would have left to live. I sat there stunned trying to take it all in and it was like my life flashed across my mind.
Thank GOD for family support, because the next two days were devastating to me. I had my Mother and sisters right beside me continuously and the sleeping pills knocked me out so I wouln't be thinking about death. All hope I thought was gone, but there was something deep inside of me that rose up and I cried out for help. I had security that JESUS wanted me to live, so I had this inner strength.
It has been close to 22 years now there has been anger, tears, happiness and thankfulness.
What would I say to each one of you that are reading this!
"Don't give up in the things that you do and be thankful. Your desire to live , Your dreams that you have in your heart. There is a way out and it is called, Hope."
