Huh? Somebody actually remembered that story? It got voted for? *falls over dead*

"*ahem* On behalf of the late, somewhat lamented Lee in Limbo, I am here to accept the second place prize for Best Alternate Universe (Long). Had he lived to see this day, he would no doubt have thanked Jeff and Cass and Scorpy808 and LithiumDoll profusely for all their hard work and great kindness, and then would have asked who the frell put his name in there, or words to that effect. He would also have gushingly reminisced about how his main impetus for writing the piece, aside from an embarrassing crush on myself, was also a burgeoning crush on his good friend and fellow (married) writer, SabaceanBabe, whose brilliant Left Behind series inspired him to write something expressly to impress her in return. By several accounts and transcripts of IMs and emails over a period of a couple o f months, this succeeded. However, shortly afterwards, a court injunction had to be put against him, as he began stalking all of her fanfic and posting profuse praise, to the point where she was forced to admit 'He's agetting a little icky.' Happily, though perhaps tragically, we will not be subjected to such an embarrassing and demeaning displays of fanboyishness and possible criminal behaviour.
The author, sadly no longer with us, was often seen in public places, mostly seedy pubs, ranting and raving about some brilliant piece of science fiction he had once written, which apparently all of six people had read. Oddly enough, he was also known to wake up in alleyways afterwards, denying its entire existence. For my part, I'd just like to say that I'm a little bit surprised he chose to develop a completely new character for me to portray, though I appreciate the lack of body paint, and I'm still a little surprised at the whole lesbian sex scene thing. However, overall, I think it was a nice piece of well intentioned madness, and I'm proud to accept the award in his stead, which will sit proudly on the end of my mantlepiece beside my signed autograph from David Hasselhoff... he's got a nice bum. Thank you, and may peace be with you."
