'Bama's Observations for Green Eyed Monster', Pt 3

Part III of BamaGirl's award winning episode review

66. Thank you, Ben, for giving us one of the shippiest moments in Farscape ever!! The entire closing scene between John and Aeryn is marvelous. Major kudos to both Ben and Claudia for their awesome performances, especially during these moments.

Even though Aeryn helped save his life, John's still hurting from feeling rejected and betrayed. [One could argue that he has no right to feel betrayed since he had his little fling with Jenavia on the Royal Planet. And maybe that's true. But when you're in love and you get hurt, you don't always act or react the way you should. Just MHO.] For John (and for me, too ), the most wonderful words ever spoken had to be "I never... recreated with Crais." I guess Aeryn is thinking back to her former way of life when she adds, "Not that it should matter." But John shows his heart when he quietly replies, "It does." Then she continues fondly remembering her life with rules that she loved to follow. A life that was completely changed the day he came into it with all his arrogance and stubbornness. This must have been a veiled reference to the way he's never given up trying to make her talk about her feelings and emotions. Why do I think that? Because her next statement chides him for seeing the recording and not talking to her before reacting the way he did. "You are like a plague, John Crichton, and you have ruined my life. And yet, I just... keep coming back." Hmm... not the most romantic words ever spoken. But for Aeryn, those words illustrate just how much John has affected her.
And our typically talkative human remains silent long enough that Aeryn has to "remind" him that he could say something. So what does he say at this crucial moment? He proceeds to tell her, by way of his handmade starcharts with the names he prefers, that *she* is the brightest star, his point of reference, his guide, his center. She is his one constant. I'm not 100% certain, but part of me would like to believe that his invitation to name some stars was somewhat of an invitation to spend her life with him. It surely was an encouragement for her to let her guard down and allow him into her life a little more. Her reply, "There's a lot of them", made me feel that she's willing to do that, but she still needs to move forward slowly. And reliable as ever, he says that they can take their time. He's willing to take it on her terms. I think he's figured out that she's definitely worth it.
"Shippy kiss", "shippy soundtrack", cue the twinkle of the star, fade John and Aeryn to the star pattern, and fade to black. What a marvelous episode!!
I wish I could take the time to speculate on how all of this will affect the other Crichton, or if this has "doomed" this Crichton to die, or how this will affect Aeryn when she one day encounters her mother, and so many of the interesting topics that have been brought up during the week. But I just don't have that time with my limited Internet access. I will say this, though. I don't necessarily believe that the progress that happened between John and Aeryn has put the bull's eye on either Crichton's back. And to presume that it has doomed John (Black) would be to take the "easy" way out of the situation. Let's face it, friends. The Farscape cast and crew *never* takes the easy way out. You can be sure that if the majority of the viewers assumes that a certain thing will happen, TPTB are several steps ahead of us and have a twist or two up their sleeve that we've not even considered.
So, that's this week's observations. Believe me, I was as surprised as some of y'all probably are that the "writing bug" bit and that I produced such a lengthy review. Don't know if it's back for good, but it sure felt good to want to write this much this week. Please take a moment to share your own thoughts about this episode or my review of it. I love reading *your* ideas and opinions, too!
