'Bama's Observations for Green Eyed Monster', Pt 2

Part II of BamaGirl's award winning episode review

33. Poor John. Reduced to begging Talyn to open the door. Refused entry. Sitting alone on the other side, feeling like an idiot.

34. Don't you love it when Claudia gets the opportunity to really smile one of her gorgeous smiles? When Aeryn talked of how Talyn was "beyond beautiful", she was the epitome of the radiant Aeryn Sun.

35. I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but I believe that Aeryn was able to learn so quickly thanks to the Pilot DNA she carries. Crais doesn't know this little detail, so he is naturally amazed by her progress. I don't even think Aeryn realizes consciously that this fact is helping her.

36. Best character "slam" by an "inside" reference, "You're loose!" "Not as loose as Chiana." ROTFL!

37. How ironic that John has to remind Aeryn to use the transponder to locate Crais after he disappears.

38. No matter how things seem to be falling apart at the moment between them, Aeryn still trusted John enough to give him her gun.

39. Something I totally did not notice until this review viewing was what it appears Aeryn was going to tell John as he rushed out of command. I'll bet she was going to tell him about the lesions on Crais' body due to Talyn's stress. She makes a motion with her hand to her throat or upper chest like she would have indicated that's where the lesions were on his body... if she had gotten the opportunity to say it. What do y'all think?

40. When Aeryn told John that she would "try" to open the door, I *so* wanted him to quote Yoda and say "There is no try. Do or do not."

41. Oh my. The truth is revealed to John and to us. Talyn can control Crais *and* inflict bodily harm to him. Did you notice the stunned look on John's face as Crais writhed in pain, begging John to kill him?

42. Turnabout is fair play. Crais called him "John"; Crichton calls him "Bialar" when he wakes him in his quarters. ;-)

43. Very nice close-ups of John while he's questioning Crais. Oh, those eyes...

44. "I keep *hearing* that you've changed. I think... weather changes. And we just keep making the same mistakes." I wonder what mistakes he's referring to... trusting Crais? Something else? Hmm...

45. Another beautiful irony. John's sudden appearance in the Uncharted Territories caused Crais' brother to die and put Crais on a mission to kill him. Now, Crais' recent actions gave John the opportunity to kill *him*, yet John actually saved Crais' life.

46. Did you notice Crais cover his exposed shoulder and arm when Aeryn entered the room? I don't know if it was out of courtesy or modesty or neither, but if there had been any physical (sexual) history between them, I don't think he would have done that. Just MHO.

47. "Why doesn't anyone ever listen to me?" I *loved* Claudia's delivery of that line.

48. Way to go, Stark! Sticking his hand down Rygel's throat to retrieve the comms relay circuit.

[Editorial comment, I'm not one bit sorry for any of Rygel's discomfort during that moment. If he behaves that way, he deserves every bit of pain he gets. Save your cries of "Dominar abuse" or "Hynerian abuse", they are wasted on me. I should probably clarify for some readers that if Rygel were portrayed by an actual person, I wouldn't feel quite this way. I'm actually a fairly tolerant individual. But if I were on a transport pod with an arrogant, self-serving dethroned Dominar who swallowed my only means of communication, you can bet that I'd be doing everything in my power to get him to cough that circuit up, regardless of species, size, color of skin, height, or any other feature.]

49. I loved the "drannit" scene. There have been several good posts about it and I'm sure I'll be somewhat redundant with my thoughts but, what the heck. What irony, Aeryn asking John what his problem was and John avoiding the real answer by claiming to be the "good little soldier" the situation warranted. Also ironic was Aeryn accusing John of playing dumb in regard to the term "drannit", when most of the time it has been her who hasn't understood his multitude of Earth references for the past two and a half cycles. But as they argue, she comes to realize that he really doesn't know. Her slight "Mona Lisa" smile gives that away. In that moment, I think she understands that, although she's learned a lot about John, she still doesn't know everything. And the same thing goes for John, he doesn,t know everything about her. They've come a long way, but they still have far to go. [Hmm... I wonder if we'll *ever* find out what a drannit really is... ]

50. What's the fastest way to bring a "shippy moment" to an end? Hear your long lost crew member say "vomit" over the comms! LOL!

51. I guess it really is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Rygel says that "Sebaceans are ugly, not stupid." Hmm... ;-)

52. Didn't you love the way Aeryn realized that they indeed had an ignition source in the Tack Five torpedoes, but that she had disarmed them? "Oh." "Oh... they had warheads." "Oh, I disarmed them." "You really should tell me these things. How big?" "Big enough." To me, IMHO, it was Aeryn allowing John to see her vulnerability in this moment. She was resourceful in remembering that the torpedoes had warheads, but she "owned up" (in her own way) to the fact that she hadn't given John all the information about the torpedoes in the first place.

53. LOL! We got another "Aunt Ruth" mention by John, this time about her special Jello. I wonder if she's Ben's real life aunt? Hmm...

54. Oh, that Talyn! As the action unfolds, we along with Aeryn discover that the young gunship is not the innocent creature we once thought. The question is, how much of Talyn's actions were his own and how much was due to Crais' influence? Hmm... As Crais slept to renew his strength, Talyn awakened early on his own. Talyn cut John's comms from Aeryn's hearing. Still, he allowed John to hear Stark's frantic instructions knowing that John would follow them and arm the warhead and be outside when ignition happened. Talyn started moving away from John, right when the mooring cable disengaged. Talyn knew John was out there and deliberately tried to leave him behind, maneuvering for the fuel dump. And worst of all, when Aeryn accessed her transponder to check the access hatch, Talyn lied and made her think that John was already gone! Aeryn's stunned reaction was perfect. "Talyn just spaced John." While she thought the worst had already happened, Talyn was in the midst of making it happen, shutting the hatch just as John pulled his way up the cable to get to the hatch. John's screams went unheeded by Talyn as he continued to prevent Aeryn and Crais from hearing John. [Hmm... how *does* one punish a young gunship?]

55. Intriguing statement by Crais at this point, "I never thought... I tried to warn... Talyn never trusted Crichton." And then he proceeds to tell Aeryn how Talyn found John offensive because he's not a Peacekeeper or a Sebacean. Well, first of all, just who did Crais try to warn and when? It sure wasn't Aeryn or John or they would have been somewhat prepared for Talyn's behavior. Crais says that Talyn is only trying to protect Aeryn *and* that he tried to persuade Talyn that he was wrong about John. Oh yeah, right. I *really* believe that one, Crais. We all know that much of Talyn's attitude and personality is a direct result of Crais' influence. And this is the man who spent the better part of a cycle hunting John down for what he perceived as the murder of his younger brother by someone of an inferior species. I don't believe for one microt that Crais tried to persuade Talyn that John wasn't a threat. And when you toss in that Crais himself seems to be having personal feelings for Aeryn, what's a young, impetuous gunship gonna do for his surrogate "mom" and "dad" but try to do what he can to bring them together?

56. I loved how Aeryn cut through all the crap and confronted Crais. "Don't you lie to me, Crais. This is not about what Talyn wants. *You* have taught him everything he knows. This is about you, me, and John." Yeah, our Aeryn knows what Crais is up to and she's not gonna put up with it any further.

57. Didn't you love how John calmly talked to Talyn as he thought through his situation, finally coming to the conclusion that Talyn was responsible for John's current predicament?

58. I'm not sure if this was a change for TV or not. When I watched the second airing with the CC on, John called Talyn a "soul-less, pin-headed, adolescent prick". And if you read his lips, it appears he said that, too. But what we actually seem to hear is "pig", not "prick". Did anyone else notice that? Also, one could make the case by reading his lips that instead of "pin-headed" he said "sh!t-headed", but that can't be confirmed by the CC. [Yeah, I'm watching *way* too closely for my own good. ;-)]

59. My favorite non-shippy moment, when Aeryn is able to break through what Talyn was showing her and she realized John was still there. "Peacekeeper lies."

60. I can't say for certain just how involved Crais was in the whole deception, but it was enough for him to attempt a feeble apology which Aeryn interrupted by saying, "So you should be." I *think* we can be somewhat certain that Aeryn will not be so trusting of Crais from now on.

61. Kudos once again to Claudia for her remarkable ability to speak volumes using only her eyes or facial expressions. Aeryn's desperate look toward John through the locked doorways said what words could not. She feared losing her true love and would be lost without him. What he said earlier no longer mattered; his sullen attitude was forgotten. All that was on her mind at that moment was what could she do to save John's life. So she decided to try the only thing she thought might work... to show Talyn the depth of her emotions, her need, her love for John.

62. Whether he did it to please Aeryn, or because he realized he had been wrong, or for some other reason, thankfully Talyn allowed John back inside in the nick of time. It will be interesting to see how, if any, Talyn's behavior changes after sensing and feeling what Aeryn showed him.

63. I loved the looks Aeryn and John gave each other as they knelt in the access after they were out of the budong.

64. Yea for Aeryn!! She takes another giant step in learning to be her own person. Rather than do what Crais and/or Talyn thinks is right for her, she decides that for now the right thing for her is to not be linked to Talyn.

65. I'll grudgingly give a few points to Crais for giving Aeryn the vidchip that Talyn created and John saw. One still has to wonder just a bit if he thinks this will get him back into Aeryn's favor, though.
