FarSide Story: A Musical(Part 4)

**MUSIC CUE FOR "ONE HAND, ONE HEART"**
CRAIS: There is no escape for us, and we cannot live as prisoners.
You know what we have to do.
TALYN: Yes.
CRAIS: I will stay with you. I won't leave you to die alone.
CRAIS (singing): Make of our minds, one minds,
Make of our hearts, one heart.
Make of our vows, one last vow;
TALYN: We won't let them part us now.
CRAIS: You are a child, my love.
Fearless and wild, my love
BOTH: Now it begins, Now we start;
One Mind, One Heart.
Only death can free us now
The cast unfreezes and looks startled as CRAIS speaks loudly
towards audience and cast looks up and around as though they are
hearing him over the comms:
CRAIS: Scorpius! I am making my final goodbye. I am standing in your
heart about to squeeze. You stole my life from me, and you are
forcing Talyn into slavery. The last time I left this ship, my ship,
you forced me out under a veil of secrecy. This time, I am not
leaving quietly.
SCORPIUS and JOHN run back on stage.
SCORPIUS: Where is Crais? Find him quickly! You! You! Go now! He
must not be allowed to escape!
BRACA (ala Darth Vader): Escape may not be his plan
CRICHTON: It's too late, Scorpy. You might want to hold onto
something.
Cast freezes in positions of panic
TALYN (singing): Make of our minds one mind
Make of our hearts one heart
TALYN + CRAIS: Make of our vow
One last vow
One mind one heart
Even death won't part us now (Death won't part us now)
TALYN (spoken): It has been my honor to serve you, Captain
Crais
CRAIS: The honor has been mine. It is time. Talyn, starburst
**END MUSIC OVERLAP WITH SOUND OF STARBURST**
CRAIS leaves stage right
*cue explosions* BANG!!
CAST screams and runs around in a panic, people run around on fire,
the usual, gradually dying and or falling/rolling or running off
stage until the stage is cleared.
CRICHTON enters stage left. AERYN enters stage right. They embrace.
CRICHTON: Aeryn, thank god you're alright.
AERYN: John. This is so, overwhelming...all those people. I saw
what used to be my best friend die before my eyes.
CRICHTON: But most folks got out. And hey, we aren't dead, you know,
for once.
AERYN: But so many are dead because of me, because of us...there's
something I was going to tell you, but now...
CRICHTON: There's no hurry. No rush. (He takes her hand)
**CUE MUSIC FOR "SOMEWHERE"**
CRICHTON (singing): There's a place for us
Somewhere in space for us
Worlds of quiet and open air
No more death
Somewhere
There's a time for us
No Sci-fi prime for us
Where we'll live
Without injuries
I won't die
You won't freeze
Someday,
Somewhere
Strangers won't all want to kill us
No need to torture or grill us
Somewhere
There's no rest for us
Who knows what's best for us?
Toss a coin
And we'll leave to chance
our romance
And our circumstance
Somehow
Someday
Somewhere
AERYN backs away and produces a coin, CRICHTON is aghast.
AERYN: Then we'll leave it in the hands of fate.
CRICHTON: What? I didn't mean it literally...
AERYN throws the coin in the air, looks down at the coin and then
looks sorrowfully at CRICHTON.
AERYN: Good-bye, John Crichton.
Aeryn exits stage left. CRICHTON gazes after her
CRICHTON (singing accapella):
Aeryn you'll have to stay alive
So we'll make it to season five
Somehow...Someday...Somewhere...
He exits stage right
FADE TO BLACK
END
