The church loves to blind people with flashy posters. A favourite quote is, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son". What a heap of twoddle that is. Fortunately for the church, no one stops to think about it. Assuming that Jesus lived at all, then he was on this planet for a mere 33 years, during which time he was in constant communication with his "father". He was able to communicate through prayer at any moment of the day or night. Eventually – so the story goes – he ascended into heaven and rejoined his father. In other words, he was on loan to the world for a short period of time. Now what kind of sacrifice was that?

Compare god's meagre sacrifice to that of Job whose entire family was murdered by "The Lord", just as a test of faith. Compare it to the millions of ordinary folk who lost their loved ones whenever "The Lord" destroyed a city out of spite or just for the fun of watching people die. Even compare it to the sacrifice made by millions of parents during two world wars. Right here in Australia, thousands of parents made the ultimate sacrifice at Gallipoli. Not for them the joy of being re-united with their slaughtered sons soon after the battle. Compared to that, "God's" sacrifice was zilch. And yet millions of Christians have been brainwashed to believe that Jesus was sacrificed for their "sins" and – oh wow – wasn't that big of 'God'. What utter crap.

Let me tell you about this great god Jehovah, as worshipped by millions of Jews and Christians. He was the god of Hate, War, Misery and Death. He led his chosen people into battle after battle and drenched the land with the blood of innocent people. He demanded animal and even child sacrifice. He countenanced slavery. He condoned theft. He despised his human creation and never missed an opportunity to send plagues, famines, droughts and swarms of locusts – anything to make life unbearable.

Over the centuries, the church has distorted everything, and now millions of gullible people worship Jehovah as a "loving father" which he certainly was not. He was anything but. He was – according to the bible – an obscene, bloodthirsty, sadistic, moronic, demonic, diabolical tyrant. If you doubt my word, read your bible and you will discover numerous examples of Jehovah engaged in genocide, inflicting pain, misery and torture – committing unspeakable atrocities. As gods go, Jehovah was an abomination.

Jews and Christians have been misled. Since the beginning of their histories they have been worshipping the 'God' of Hate, War, Misery and Death. Christians have also been worshipping a no-count, racist hypocrite called Yeshu but known to them as Jesus. Catholics devote themselves to an ordinary woman called Mary who spread her legs for her husband, accepted his sperm and conceived a mortal child in the normal manner but several months before she was married. She went on to produce several more sons and at least one daughter, yet she is revered and venerated as a "virgin".

And on the subject of childbirth, the Garden of Eden story tells how the serpent – an animal with no vocal chords – spoke to Eve and encouraged her to educate herself. Then, for tasting fruit from the tree of knowledge, Jehovah punished Eve by condemning all women to suffer agonising childbirth. (He also condemned the serpent to "eat dust" which it never has done.) 'God' is described by the church as being "all knowing". If he was such a clever deity, how come he didn't foresee the obvious outcome of placing a curious woman like Eve next to the tree of knowledge? I could have foreseen it. You could have foreseen it. How come god was taken by surprise?

The Garden of Eden story, along with most other stories in the bible, was written by frauds for fools. It is time, just months before the end of the millennium, for people to engage their brains and reject this Judeao/ Christian nonsense, and, if they still need stuff to fill the vacuum, to seek an alternative – something more appropriate for the 21st century.

Is the answer to be found in ancient mysticism, sometimes referred to as "New Age" wisdom? These days it's de rigueur to believe in aliens, astrology, psychic phenomena, weeping statues or fairy circles. Everyone's got a favourite story to tell about the clairvoyant who accurately predicted the collapse of their grandmother's wardrobe or the inexplicable mystery which occurred while they were washing socks in an air-raid shelter surrounded by angels and peanut farmers.

People cling to these silly stories like a drowning man to a straw because it makes them appear more interesting than they really are. The latest craze is convulsions in church, but there is no difference between a "Toronto blessing" and a voodoo spell. Both require from the recipient, total suspension of the reasoning faculty.

Will we find the truth about life in tarot cards, magic crystals, plastic pyramids, cassette tapes of dolphins grunting and farting? I have my doubts. There’s a chap on the North Shore of Sydney who has convinced his followers that he communicates with whales. Perhaps he's got the answers to life? If not, where is truth hiding and how can we locate it? Shall we shave our heads and wear saffron robes? Maybe if we chant Hare Krishna ten million times we'll be flooded with the radiant light of divine truth.

Shall we become a Breatharian? - no more food, instead we can live comfortably and exclusively on God's "light"! Shall we face Mecca five times a day? Shall we wear a little round skull cap? Shall we slit the throat of a chicken? Shall we dance around a bonfire? Shall we wear a little badge proclaiming that "Yogi Raj Mayhem is amongst us"? Shall we sport a T shirt announcing that "He is Risen!" Shall we practice bum-bounce levitation? Shall we stare at the night sky chanting "Ommm, Ommm, Ommm"? Shall we face north and piss on our shoes?

If any of these bring you comfort, then by all means go for it. But when you're ready for a dash of realism in your life you might like to contact The CHURCH of REAL.
