Here I Come

WARNING: THIS IS SAD!!! IT ALSO CONTAINS THEMES OF DEATH AND SUCIDE! DO NOT CONTINUE UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS SAD!

She sat at her desk; one lone tear trickled down her face. Angrily, she brushed it away. Who could blame her for taking the easy way out? Hands shaking, she wrote to her friends.

Jonathan—I’m sorry I will not be able to help you anymore,
Thayet—Keep your chin up. Don’t cry, you get blotchy,
Buri—Good luck with future trainees,
Onau—I’m sorry, I guess you’ll have to find a new assistant,
Numair—Here I come,
Love,
Daine

Immediately, everyone knew that something was wrong. Horses reared, then refused to move. Cats attacked humans, then slunk to the ground. Dogs bit their masters, then ran in fear.
Buri burst into Daine’s rooms, “Oh Gods….oh Gods.” Onau, Thayet, and Jonathan stood in the doorway behind her. Daine lay on her bed, face shockingly white against the darkness of her hair. Deep maroon welled up on her pale wrists. The thin dagger lay on the floor.
Onau ran to her friend. “How….Why?” She whispered through her tears.
“She never was the same since Numair died,” Jonathon commented quietly. “At least they’re together now.”
