Friends
She walks through the halls,
Her head held high,
Smiling through her rubber bands
And braces,
At her imaginary friends
She sits in class,
As quiet at the rest,
Pretending to write notes,
To the friends she doesn’t have
Now she’s at home
And her homework’s done
She pulls out a book
And flips to a page
She can visit her friends
Anytime she wants
Preserved between the pages
Of her favorite book
Now she’s grown
And writes for her job
Killing her enemies
And creating best friends
Ten years later
And she’s known by all
Her classmates call often
Pretending to like her
But she remembers back then
When she wasn’t know
And like by none
