SKILLICORN FAMILY ETHNIC LINK FORUM
We, here in Australia, are proud of our rich, diverse ethnicity; we truly are a Multicultural society. South Australians, in particular (we live in the state capital, Adelaide), owe their heritage not only to British and Anglo-Saxon stock, but also to immigrant families from Germany, Italy, Greece, Poland, Turkey, Latvia, Russia, the USA, Japan, China, India, to mention only a very few.
As one with experience working in close association with a variety of ethnic groups, I have developed a strong conviction that the more we mix together, building friendships and learning to understand each other's cultures, languages and traditions, the nearer we shall come to achieving a peaceful world.
There are differences, for sure, and we can never all be the same, but one thing is clear -- when we truly get to know each other, lovingly and impartially, we'll find that the things which unite us are far greater than those which divide.
The purpose of this Forum is to search out those cultural similarities, to understand our differences and build upon a mutual friendship which over-rides all boundaries of race, caste, creed and gender.
We would like to have as much diversity as possible so please join up, invite your friends to join and share with us the beauties of your cultural traditions. This forum is not a platform for political or religious debate but a base for meeting each other in positive relationships of mutual respect. We believe that each of you has something to contribute for the enrichment of fellow Forum Members.

Multiculturalism is fine, so long as those joining such a society understand the meaning of "MULTI". It means that each member respects the right of the other to have his or her own beliefs, providing they do not impinge on the freedoms of others. At this point we have a problem with ethnic groups from Muslim backgrounds because Islam, being "theocratic", does not recognise principles that are "democratic". Nor does it recognise the equality of male and female. The Koran actually allows a husband to beat his wife if he thinks she needs "discipline". However, she cannot beat her husband if he is at fault ! Once a Muslim community reaches majority status, a serious problem arises because the more sincere, Koran-reading Muslims will demand their own "Shariah" Law. The problem is not with Muslims as persons but rather with the "holy" book they have for their scriptures which in essence is not MULTI-cultural but ONE-culture - ISLAM. Islam is not a religion of peace, as its Mullahs claim, because it instructs the faithful to "strive" to convert the non-believing "Infidels" or "People of the Book" (Jews and Christians) to the Islamic cult and, if they don't surrender to the Moon god, then the "merciful" Allah orders :-
