ezekiel encounter 1 gilgal to wheels
In this encounter Ezekiel describes:
An upper capsule obscured by the 'glory of Yahweh'. An 'undercarriage'
called the 'living creatures' [craft today are named after creatures -
i.e. the 'Eagle' lunar module].
1: 3 The 'hand of the Lord' [an effective influence] comes upon Ezekiel:
1:4 I saw a storm wind coming from the north,
a vast cloud with fire flashing hither and thither and brilliant light
about it;
and within was a radiance like brass/gleam of bronze, glowing in the
heart of the flames.
B14,23, 45-48, 63,131 A craft leaves the base ship and enters the
atmosphere from the north.
As it slows, Ezekiel sees the fire and crystallised cloud(s) of the
braking phase in the centre of which glows
the craft's reactor.
E554 The appearance is preceded by a mighty roaring sound [= storm wind,
also see 1:24, 3:12, 43:2]
1:5 - 6 from the midst appeared the semblance of 4 living creatures in
human like form.
Each had 4 faces and each 4 wings
B4,31,35,39-41,56,126/7,136 4 Helicopter units are deployed before the
rocket engine cuts off and come into action at about 3k'.
This is easily done as the units are rotatable from each side of the
craft upwards or downwards.
Ezekiel calls them likenesses of living creatures and then briefly
compares them to the form of men as they become more distinguishable
from the surrounding fire cloud.
Why Helicopter Units? B 31,126-7
[i] Manoeuvrability to find optimal landing spots.
[ii] Reduction of fire risk and dangers to people, livestock and crops
through keeping use of rocket guidance and landing engines to a minimum.
There had been problems in the Exodus operation.
[iii] Fuel saving by keeping use of the rocket engine[s] to a minimum.
B36,56 As the craft hovers and lands, the prophet can see and hear
things in greater detail.
He describes what he sees as objectively/metaphorically as he can:
1: 6 -7 their legs were straight, and their hooves were round/ soles
were like the hooves/soles of a calf
glittering/sparkling like a disc of/burnished bronze.
E57 'The peculiar formation of the feet, which seem to run together into
a rounded pillar..
B56,65 Each of the legs [Ezekiel does not give a number] has straight,
telescopic shock absorbers and convex [to permit sliding in cross wind
etc.] foot pads. These disk-like foot pads distribute ground pressure
over a surface to prevent the craft from sinking into the ground.
B15, 31-2 Above the legs are cylindrical/spherical supports containing a
retractable wheel [Ezekiel does not give a shape or mention their
retractability].
1: 8 - 9 Under the wings on each of the 4 sides were human hands;
and their faces and their wings with all four/ all 4 creatures had faces
and wings,
and their wings touched one another;
B35/6 On the outer side of the supports, immediately below the rotor,
are 2 to 4 telescopic robotic arms/devices.
TV eyes are installed near their shoulder & wrist to observe the
position & movements of the hand. They hang downward when not operating.
No 'arm' is mentioned. Ezekiel states in this instance that they were
human hands. However, in Encounter3, 10:8 he says they are like.
1:9-10 they did not turn as they moved, each creature went straight
forward.
As for the likeness of their faces, each/all four had the face of a man
[in front];
the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face
of a bull on the left side,
and the four had the face of an eagle at the back/inwards.
B56 - 61 Ezekiel sees structural details on the rotors suggesting facial imagery.
The 'faces' could be seen in protective fairings above the rotor plane.
They have irregular shapes, protrusions & cut -outs [Hebrew 'face' of
the sword means[metal] 'edge' CE182]
We see faces in technical products [e.g. a Gemini Capsule].
Alternatively, the faces may be painted on/ depicted/ sculptured by the
crew.
The same orientation of the 'faces' shows that the 4 rotors are
synchronised.
[E55 - verse 10 shows rapid oscillations/abrupt alternations between m &
f gender suffix forms = rotation of rotors?]
1:11 all four/Their wings and their faces were spread out above;( and
their faces & wings upward were divided)
each living creature had one pair always touching each other/its
neighbours, while one pair covered its body.
B32-4 This describes the position of the units' rotors and blades when
not deployed. For technical/ heat dispersion reasons, the rotor blades
can be folded up or down. The blades could be on different levels as
pairs?
1:12 They each moved straight forward in whatever direction the
spirit/wind would/made them go;
they never swerved in their course/ turned as they went.
Br13 - The undercarriage is moving as a whole by generated wind, in
other words propeller power [but also see A 45-6 who argues that the
animating pulse here and in !:21 not wind].
E57 We are talking about movement through the air, hovering among the
clouds, not movement on the ground [see note to 1:14-21]
1:13 The appearance of the creatures was as if /And between the living
creatures was what looked like
fire from burning coals or torches were darting to and fro among them;
the fire was radiant/bright, [and out of the fire came lightning ]
or very bright lamps went up & down among them between the wheels by
which they could be seen
[these can be compared with the flaming torches of Abraham [Gen15:17]].
1:14 [and the creatures went out [and in like rays of light.]
And the living creatures darted to and fro, like a flash/the appearance
of "lightning"
E50 1:14-21 is an insertion under influence of Chapter 10[/Encounter3]
The verses describe movement on the ground which takes place in
Encounter3.
B14,15,31,35,38, 48,61-2,110 As the craft looks for a safe landing
place, control rockets on the helicopter sides flicker
irregularly. This looks like fiery, light-emitting, flashing rays.
The control rocket bursts from the forward 2 helicopters are described
as lightning/ torches flickering
in the space that separates the ' living beings'.
Those from the 2 helicopters behind the main body and glowing reactor
radiator look like lightning
coming out of the fire/ burning coals of fire.
This silent scene of flickering, flashing, fiery lights moving amongst
huge eye -studded sparkling wheels [?see 1:13 ff.]
and spheres [B31] is typical of modern sightings.
