HE WOULD CHOOSE THE ODDEST TIMES

"He would choose the oddest times to reveal himself,
arriving always as a haunted messenger,
a watchman from the tower,
a lover out of exile,
his voice the bringing together of distances-
songs of the undercurrent,
of our dreams and the whisper of angels
in the windy halls of night,
a book of paintings,
a forgotten language,
the musical reappearing of the Ancestors
near the waters of Origin...

His eyes would catch the light and sparkle,
his face all shadow and lumen,
Mirror of the Deep,
a dark sea returning the Image of stars,
of moon and of cloud...

Often it was the coming of some ghostly oracle,
some iron word rooted in the Vision
that would bring us back again
to flowers, to winds,
and to the faces of gods..."
