Hi, I`m Doug Covey , a Canadian Marine Engineer more or less semi retired . I have a passion for Great Lakes Ships or ``lakers`` of the past , an era of steam and numerous ships on the Great lakes . That passion evolved into a hobby and at the urging of family and friends , I have now decided to share my expertise with fellow ship enthusiasts .
I don`t do sailing vessels because of time constraints and deadlines . However , any Merchant Ship or Warship will be considered , with very favorable prices . A real treat for me is when someone inquires about repairs or restoration of an old ship model found in a dusty attic . Always my favorite project , and I WILL do sailing vessel restorations because they are highly valued today .
I specialize in Canadian Great Lakes Canallers , in service from the 1920`s to 1970 , when their size made them uneconomic - S.S. CAPE TRANSPORT is above . Their were many of them and many a story with each as well .
