James A. Michener wrote the greatest book about the Islands of Hawaii, how they became populated, and the trials and tribulations many characters in this story were confronted with. This is a highly recommended read for ALL people. Read it either BEFORE, DURING or AFTER you make your trip to this Pacific paradise!
I've had the unforgetable fortune to read this masterpiece during my gradeschool day classes, much to the blessing of nuns who were happy to find me silent, finally. I SIMPLY COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!
This good fortune continued. After trying my hand in collage, only to flunk out, I joined the USAF. After basic training, they chose
to assign me to three years at HICKUM AFB, Oahu, Hawaii. There I walked the streets of Honolulu and saw many Company Names brought to light in Micheners' masterpiece! I am now well into my middle age, and pray to GOD to help me build on that unforgettable experience.
