My academic training includes a B.S. degree in psychology from Brown University, M.A. and PhD degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas, and clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship in clinical and health psychology from Yale University.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, psychophysiological or stress related problems, marital and relationship issues, and religious/spiritual concerns. In addition to consultation and psychotherapy, I provide psychological assessment services as well as public lectures on life satisfaction, stress, faith and health, clergy sexual abuse, ethics, and related topics to both community and professional groups.
I am also a Professor of Psychology at Santa Clara University and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. I teach courses on ethics, health psychology and clinical psychology at Santa Clara and teach courses on ethics at Stanford. I have published eleven books on clinical psychology, religious faith and health, intimate relationships, ethics, and psychological issues among Catholic clergy as well as over 150 professional journal articles.
