Our Kind Of Life

Watch out the British are coming!Sounds familiar doesn't it,remember the Beatles?Well here's a group of British lads, four of them all between 16 and 17 years of age. They have been together for about 18 months, but believe me they sound like they have been together alot longer than that. The material on this CD were penned by these lads, and things are in the works for some new stuff soon.I want to call attention to you guys that own labels out there, these boys are looking for someone to sign them.Get on the horn and call these lads before someone beats you to them. This is a golden opportunity,so at least give them a listen. So contact them or you can contact us,we have been authorized to forward anyone interested a copy of this CD for examination.Remember the last British invasion, well history tends to repeat itself. Are these the four lads that are going to kick it off? Do you want to chance passing them up? I didn't,so here's what I have to say on Our Kind Of Life.

The Boys in the band are:
Sam Norfolk..Vocals/Rhythm Guitar

Craig Trudgill..Bass Guitar

Lewis Allman..Lead/Rhythm Guitar

Steven Harris..Drums/Percussion/Backup Vocals

Now on to the review:

TRACK 1

Disappearance

Starts off with some beeping sound on the right channel, like a spaceship. On the left channel there's some power chord guitar way down under, and then it all gets cranking.Sam has a great voice and the lyrics are well witten and easy to understand.Lewis streams out some sizzling lead licks that accentuate the vocals.Craig and Steven build a solid rhythm foundation.A great uptempo opener!!(A+++)

TRACK 2

My World

This one kicks off with some fantastic acoustic strumming, with a nice chord progression. Then the electric comes in with an amzing hypnotic harmonic lead. The percussion is also very well done used only to add color not overpower. The bass line is excellent and plays off the acoustic. They have a guest artist here,Marc Ward, who puts in some alluring organ and backup vocals. This one has "HIT" written all over it.A totally engrossing tune.(A++++)

TRACK 3

No Frequency

This one sounded a bit like the Wallflowers a nice ballad.Lewis is one hot guitarist,it's hard to believe that he's only 16.There are many guitarist twice, three, even four time his age that have not reached this level of proficiency. The vocals are tight, and the drum fills are right on cue.The bass is sharp and carries the rhythm.(A++)

TRACK 4

Tonight's Alright

This one kicks off with some hooting and hollering, which is right on for the tune. This has a definite punk flavor ala Ramones, complete with Johnny Ramone power chords.A real party time tune that shows the dexterity of these musicians. They would surely get the joint jumpin' with this tune. Some strong leads, solid drumming, great harmony vocals, fluent bass line, lacking in nothing.I enjoyed the little ditty with the penny whistle at the end, nice touch.(A+++)

TRACK 5

Being A Star

This is a truly electrifying, the people that these guys are emulating, they can not possibly remember.I mean this one has a Lou Reed,Hendrix,
with a bit of Lenny Kravitz in it.I'm totally blown away with these lads, not just the fact of their ages. They are so talented, all of them, not just one member stands out above the rest. They truly know how to work as a band.I must say the blues lick at the end of this song spoke out with authority.(A+++)

TRACK 6

Timeless

I'm bumming this is the last song on the CD. Another truly original piece, they have their own sound that is new but yet borrows from the past. The streaming leads accentuating the vocalist, and the inventiveness of the great bands. The rhythm section is driving the tune to higher levels with each progression.Another solid tune aching to be played on the radio for all to enjoy.(A++++)

My overall impression:

This is a truly amazing CD by a group of truly amazing people. They have matured musically well beyond their years.Talent, this band has more than many eight piece bands. If these guys aren't signed by a major label by this time next year,it won't be because they don't have what it takes.I will do whatever it takes to help them get the recognition they deserve. Why? The reason is,the stuff I hear when I crank on that radio in my car,it's not half as well done as the CD I've just heard.Like I said earlier,if you want to hear them write to the band or give them a call,or contact me and I'll hook you up.I know you guys and gals can help these young men out,so lets promote these artists. At least give them the courtesy of your opinion. Thanks!

So until next time, keep your ears to the tunes, your eyes on the road, and keep in touch with us..
...Donna
