We are looking for any single (divorced, widowed, never married, or separated) adults from 21 years of age and up who want to participate in our well attended singles group meetings.
We know you will enjoy our singles cruises, free meetings, house parties, singles group activities, and many member sponsored events, for singles in the Brandon - Tampa area.
If you are man or woman who is single, and looking to make some new friends in a safe, non threatening atmosphere, and do it for free, join our singles group. Some of us were in bad relationships that led to Divorce and/or Restraining Orders and wanted a new start.
Because we are web and e-mail based, overhead is low.
Our group sponsor, Apple Non Pressure Roof Cleaning Tampa pays for the domain name, and to keep the web site ad free.
There are no yearly singles group membership dues, or joining fees of any kind.
We are not a Church Singles Group, and have no religious, political, or any other kind of "hidden agenda".
Our only "agenda" is to have fun together as a group, and for you to make new single friends.
Your religious, lack of religious, or political beliefs, are your own business.
OUR PRESIDENTS STORY
I am Chris, the President and Co Founder of the Brandon Singles Group.
I will share my story with you.
I was 43, and in a long term relationship that broke up suddenly.
To say I was crushed is putting it mildly.
For almost a year, I just barely "functioned"
Being a Single Dad at the time, I immersed myself in my teenage sons life, my Tampa Roof Cleaning Company, and the Gym.
No one knew anything was "wrong" with me, I hid the loneliness real good.
One day I was reading the Tampa Tribune newspaper.
I saw an announcement that read "Singles Group For Brandon - Tampa Florida Singles Meets At Local Restaurant"
I don't know why, but I clipped and saved that article.
I placed the Brandon - Tampa Singles Group article in a "place of honor" right on the door to my refrigerator.
It must have been there for 6 months or so, because the paper had turned yellow from age.
One night, when my son was spending the weekend at his friends house, the emptiness became too much to bear.
I started putting on my Gym clothes, but remembered I had just went and worked out the day before!
So, I showered, got dressed, and set out to a local singles bar, in hopes of possibly meeting someone.
I sat at the bar, and noticed a seemingly nice, apparently single Woman, smiling at me from across the bar.
I thought I saw kindness in her eyes and smile, so I summoned the bartender over.
I asked him to make her whatever drink she was drinking, and send it over to her, from me.
She got it, and looked over at me and smiled again.
Thinking that she might be in the same boat as me, I walked over and sat down.
I went to introduce myself, when suddenly, and without any warning, she scowled at me.
"I know your type, she said, "you just think you can buy me a drink and own me, right" ?
Before I could say anything, she pushed the drink I bought her back over to me.
She told me to take it, and me, and go back and sit where I was!
This was just what I needed ?
So, totally crushed, and even more bummed out, I headed for home with my tail between my legs!
Seeking food, or anything to combat the stress, I went for the refrigerator.
And on the door was the Brandon - Tampa Singles Group article I had clipped months earlier, staring me right in the face.
I took it down, and called the number.
It was about 9.30 pm, and to my surprise a woman answered.
I thought I would get an answering machine!
I told her I was calling about the singles group, and she told me that I had just missed the meeting.
She said I had to first attend a meeting, before I could join.
She told me that the next meeting was 2 weeks away.
I needed some friends NOW, so I asked her if any singles group events were going on I might attend ?
She told me that "technically" I needed to be a member to attend events.
But, she also said that they were having a big party at a members Tampa home on Friday.
Because the party was at a members house, the singles group could not really dictate what "guest's" a member invited into their own home!
She then asked me, jokingly, if I were a "cute guy" ?
I told her, jokingly of course, that my Mom said I was, LOL
She gave me the woman's phone number who was having the house party in Tampa, and I called.
I got myself invited, and the rest is history!
I served on the board of what later became this organization as an officer, and then as President and Co Founder when several of us left to form this Brandon Area Singles Group.
I met my very best friend here, and have done many new things I would have never done alone.
Today, we are approaching 950 Brandon - Tampa, Florida area members, and have regularly scheduled events, happy hours, and house parties.
And, to think, I would have NEVER imagined myself before in a singles group.
