WHO WE ARE
Don Pedro Cookies is dedicated to the educational and economic advancement of our Latino children and youth. Our mission is very simple and direct. We want to create, develop and market educational and cultural related concepts via food products and other non-food items in the United States and abroad. The key is to empower the Latino community (economically and educationally) while conducting a successful business. By the end of our fifth year of operation, Don Pedro Cookies plans to be in the financial position to donate a portion of its profits to community based organizations, as well as providing scholarships to college-bound Latino students in need of financial support. We are dedicated to creating educational and economic opportunities for all Americans, especially for our Latino children and youth.
THE STORY OF DON PEDRO
The idea of Don Pedro Cookies is based on a character created by Alberto Cappas. The character, named Don Pedro, is a Latino character from the Sappacla universe. His planet is called NuevoMundo (NewWorld). Don Pedro is a wise and magical being, with powers that humans do not possess. He brings with him a wealth of Knowledge, Culture and History. One day, while visiting planet Earth, he becomes aware of the many social ills faced by the planet’s young generation. He noticed that most children are not fully aware of their cultural heritage and therefore, lack a true richness in their lives. He further discovers that many of the children are involved with drugs and crime, and they lack self-pride, self-esteem and self-worth. Many have no sense of direction or vision. Don Pedro realizes that since many have not learned how to develop goals for the future, they drop out of school with nowhere to go, no happy dreams and no positive aspirations. Don Pedro decides that he must use his wisdom to help and reach out to this young generation. He decided to do this by sharing the wonders of Education, Culture, and History.
Thus, he established Don Pedro Cookies, to serve as a vehicle to spread positive news and messages, sharing educational and cultural information with the Hispanic/Latino communities and others.
Don Pedro Cookies Are available to community groups and organizations for fund-raising activities. Friends of Don Pedro will receive the Don Pedro Newsletter as well as special benefits and discounts throughout the year.
