Duties:
Talk on radio stations. Interview guests, act as mistress of ceremonies, read news flashes, identify station by giving call letters, and announce song titles and artists.
Prepare and deliver news, sports and weather reports, gather and rewrite material so that it would convey required information and fit specific time slots.
Read news flashes to inform audiences of important events.
Identify station, close shows using memorized or read scripts and or ad-libs.
Select program content, in conjunction with producers and assistants, based on factors such as program specialties, audience tastes or requests from the public.
Study background information in order to prepare for programs or interviews.
Comment on music and other matters, such as weather or traffic conditions.
Interview show guests about their lives, their work, or topics of current interest.
Discuss various topics over the telephone with listeners.
Make promotional appearances hosting civic events.
Rehearse rolls from scripts in production studio.
Produce Public Service Announcements and Commercials in production studio.
Maintain daily logs or records.
Evaluate length, content or suitability of program for broadcast.
Required using hands to handle controls.
Required awareness of competitive pressures.
Required ability to make decisions without supervision.
Required being highly accurate.
Required working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
Required giving full attention to what other people were saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Required monitoring and assessing my performance to make improvements.
Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Watching guages to make sure that the equipment is working properly.
