Dixie's Story
I took OUR BABY GIRL DIXIE to Sandy Springs Veterinary Clinic in South Carolina to be spayed. She was a very healthy dog, wonderful with our children.
I took her in at 9:30 on March 14, 2005 and picked her up at 4:30. She could not even hold her head up much less her body. The docter had to help me carry my 82lb boxer to my van and insisted she was fine and would come off the anesthesia just fine.
I got her home at about 5:00 and my mom had to help me carry her in to the house. After about an hour she still could not hold her head up and was bleeding, so I called the vet back at his home and spoke with his wife. She said she would have him call me right back.
I did not hear from him until my baby was gasping for air and was about dead. I called his wife back and told her my dog was dying. She had to call him on his cell and finally called me. My husband tried to make to the vet's office in hopes that we could save her but it was too late. She died on the way.
The docter said she hemmorhaged and went into shock. My baby should not have died from having this surgery. She should still be here with our family that loves her very much and will miss her greatly. My whole neighborhood loved my dog. Again this should not have happened and i can't do anything to make this docter pay for what he did not only to her but my whole family.
I just wanted to tell DIXIE'S Story so others may reconsider what anyone would think to be a good thing for their pets but that's not always the case.
