NEWS UPDATE AS OF 10/31/05
It's been awhile since I last updated this page, but I do have some news for all of you Natalie fans.
Natalie Cole has just about finished recording her new CD for Verve Records. One of the producers of the project is Dallas Austin. Natalie is covering songs from the following artists: Fiona Apple, Shelby Lynn, Neil Young, Kate Bush, Tower of Power and the Isley Bros just to name a few. We hear that Natalie is taking us back to the old school so look out everyone her she comes.
Natalie is also featured on a new Christmas CD with a brand new Christmas song. This collection is only available at Radio Shack.
Before I go, Natalie will be joining Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and more for a benefit concert in New York. Patti Labelle and Russell Simmons will be honored.
Oh yeah, before I forget.......The single "Come Together Now" which is the benefit song for the Hurricane Relief Victim is available through Itunes and Rhapsody Music. The album will be available in Mid November.
Gotta Go.
NEWS UPDATE AS OF 7/22/05
I know it has been awhile since I have mentioned anything and frankly there is not much to mention now. From what I can see Natalie is still touring off and on.
She recently performed at the Los Angeles Mayoral Inauguration where she performed the Star Spangled Banner and America, The Beautiful.....The Star Spangled Banner performance she kept simple; however, the performance of America, The Beautiful was excellent. I recorded both songs and took some pictures of Natalie at the Inauguration.
Also, catch Natalie Cole in Oprah's "O" Magazine (August 2005) Issue. Oprah has private pictures of the Legendary Ball and Dinner in which Natalie attended with other Divas from various professions.
Come back, because next month I will reporting to you about the Hollywood Bowl performance. Hopefully, I will have other information to report on as well.
OLD NEWS
Natalie performs tonight in Detroit for the Stars and Cars Gala.
No news on the new album. Verve has updated their website; however, Natalie Cole is not mentioned at all. We will just probably have to wait until 2006 for new music.
Natalie Cole performed "SATISFACTION" at the recent ERASE MS BENEFIT. She also performed with Earth, Wind & Fire. I know this show had to be off da hook.
VH-1 tends to air this concert, so please look out for it just in case they do.
I also just found out via Kevin Taylor, that Natalie Cole has just about finished recording her new CD. From my understanding the CD will have some classic pop and R&B. Still waiting to see how many original songs will be included.
UPDATE: As of 4/18/05.
This Week's Hot CD: 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' Soundtrack
"Diary of a Mad Black Woman" (Rowdy Entertainment)
Tyler Perry's movie "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" hit No. 1 at the box office. Judging by the mesmerizing performances, the soundtrack deserves to do equally well.
It's filled to the brim with diva-licious stylings that will have you frequently punching the repeat-play button. India.Arie, Monica, Natalie Cole and other marquee names from the worlds of R&B, pop and gospel cut loose on a cogent collection that unleashes a maelstrom of emotions.
Arie's soulful "Purify Me" opens the proceedings. Her moving delivery is echoed at various turns by fellow contemporaries Angie Stone ("Different Directions"), Tamia ("Things I Collected") and Heather Headley ("Ain't It Funny"). Meanwhile, R&B/pop vets Cole ("I Wanna Love Again") and Patti LaBelle ("I Wanna Be Free") nearly steal the show. Not to be counted out is former R&B hit-maker Cheryl Pepsii Riley on the illuminating "What If God Was One of Us." (Billboard)
GRADE: A
Natalie Cole and Earth, Wind & Fire are slated to perform at this years ERASE MS Fundraiser, which is usually televised on VH1 at a later date. Make sure you don't miss it, because VH1 tends to televise this event out of the blue.
