" STRIVE MIGHTELY, BUT EAT AND DRINK AS FRIENDS. "

This Website is dedicated to the memory of Bob O'Brien. "O.B" has passed but his wit and good cheer are still with us. In 1989 Bob sketched cartoon likenesses of 12 of us and photos of his poster can be seen in the " O.B." Gallery section along with other memorabilia. For several years his family held a large golf tournament in his name drawing hundreds of his friends and family.
TNAC stands for Thursday Night Athletic Club and was born in the late 1960's on Chicago's southeast side as "shirts & skins" basketball competition meeting weekly in a grammar school gymnasium.
As knee operations slowly took their inevitable toll basketball faded into the glorious past. However TNAC members have continued with their second passion, golf. Competing on some of Chicagoland's most famous public golf courses we take full advantage of senior rates and play at least once a week as weather permits. Currently fielding two strong teams we are also a force in area Senior golf tournaments.
To symbolize the diversity, fellowship and heritage of TNAC a logo was created by charter member Don Brokop. Big Don dubbed his creation " MushRock ", cleverly combined images of a mushroom and a shamrock. The mushroom being a favorite quisine of those members with eastern european roots, and of course the Irish are represented by the Shamrock.
The photo galleries are currently incomplete with no particular dates or locations furnished by the webmaster. Future editing should correct this oversite but for the foreseeable future this site will be "under construction." Many photos remain to be posted.
Practical uses of this website remain unclear, but ideas might include a section to log weekly golf matches and senior tournament results, a "TNAC HOLE-IN-ONE CLUB" gallery, and perhaps a link to track personal handicaps.
