ABOUT SENSEI DAVID HODSKINS

Mr. Hodskins was born on January 6, 1961 in Toronto, Ontario. Moving to Brampton, he started his training in the Martial Arts in January 1979 while in the Canadian armed Forces
David received his 3rd Dan in Goju Ryu on January 11 2003 . Mr. Hodskins main area of training in the Martial Arts is Goju Ryu Karate-Do. Other training experiences in the martial arts are, Ju Jitsu, Weaponry, Aiki Jitsu, Tai Chi Escrima, and in 1979, he became a Golden Gloves Boxer. At this time, while in the Canadian Armed Forces, he was trained in hand-to-hand combat. Mr. Hodskins has had the opportunity to train with some of the top martial artist in the world such as, Alan Innocca Shishar, Don Warrener, the late Richard Kim, Morio Higaonna, Rand Caldwell and Ramone Veras and David’s Sensei, Rusty McMains. David Hodskins Takes part annually in a martial arts show Arts of The Ancient East to raise funds for Hostice Niagra.
Some of his accomplishments are placing 1st in the Southern Ontario Open Karate Championship’s for the Kata Division, placing 1st in Breaking, 2nd in Kata, 3rd in weapons in the Battle of Warriors 1993. Among other tournaments in which he placed in the top four, Mr. Hodskins has been involved with numerous Skydome Demonstrations for the Toronto Argonauts. David has also done work for the television series F.X.
The most memorable moment in the Martial Arts training of Mr. Hodskins was being selected for the Team Canada Karate Team and receiving two gold medals at the Goodwill Games in Nuevo Vallarta.
Traditional Martial Arts Training Centre Oshawa is a part time operation and Mr. Hodskins is looking forward to its continued development and growth.
