Homagama Develoment Plan
Homagama is a one of the most Important area for Industrial Development & Residential purpose.It is situated 18km away from city of colombo. The Homagama pradeshyia sabha consist of Homagama divisional secretariat division and 10 GN division of Padukka DS division. The total Land area is about is 137sqkm of 90 GN division.The Pradeshiya sabha established under act No 15 of 1987.
Last two decades Colombo was rapidly urbanization development activities spreading away to the suburban areas. By the Way Homagama developed as Industrial & Housing developments. Mattegoda Housing scheme and Templeburge , Ashok layland ,Meegoda and Katuwana Industrial site most important of them.
Provisions of infrastructure Facilities , housing , Employment opportunities should be provided by the government agencies or private sector specially the local authority. The Urban Development Authority Law was brought in to operation in October 1978 �to promote integrated planning of economic , social & physical development and its implementation in the urban area�s of srilanka� The amendment to the UDA law introduced in 1982 made it mandatory for the UDA to the prepare development plans for all area�s declared under the section 3 of the UDA law and also authorized it to carry out physical development control in such areas.
