My name is Deanna Duarte and I am a Veterinary Technician. I graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in May 1998 with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences, majored in Veterinary Technology. I have had experience in this field for over 10 years and experience in the petsitting field for over 22 years. I have always had a strong concern and love for all animals. This is why I have decided to begin to help others in caring for their pets in the comfort of their own home. My services will be offered to all domesticated animals, including reptiles and amphibians.
WHY IS HOME PET CARE A BETTER ALTERNATIVE?
Animals as well as people are prone to becoming sick under stress. It is stressful enough to be away from their owner, but when you take them out of their home environment and in close quarters with many other dogs, they have a great chance of becoming ill, such as worm infestation, parvo, fleas, kennel cough (tracheobronchitis) and many other various types of communicable diseases. For example, kennel cough is caused by a number of different airborne bacteria (such as Bordetella bronchiseptica) & viruses (such as canine parainfluenza) or a mycoplasma, which is an organism somewhere between a virus and bacteria. There is a vaccine to "prevent" kennel cough called Bordetella, but is only 50-60% effective, and has to be administered 7-10 days prior to kenneling for any kind of effect. These are several reasons why home care is becoming more and more popular.

SERVICE & RATES: There are 2 rate categories (Basic & Other, depending on which area you reside). First under these categories are rates for dogs & exotic birds and then following are rates for cats, reptiles, amphibians & small animals. See which categories fit your criteria.

OVERNIGHT RATES IN MY HOME (Dogs, parrots and small caged animals ONLY. NO CATS CAN STAY IN MY HOME, AS I DO NOT HAVE A SET UP FOR THEM):
The rate also includes the pick-up and drop off of your pet(s). Your dog will have the run of my home & yard unless crating is needed for training purposes specified by the owner. Small caged animals will be kept from other animals, cages kept clean, fresh food, water and lots of TLC daily.
DOGS: $65.00/night + $20.00 each additional dog
MEDIUM TO LARGE PARROTS (Cockatoos, Macaws, African Greys, Amazons etc): $40.00/night + 15.00 each additional parrot
SMALL BIRDS & SMALL CAGED ANIMALS (cockatiels, parakeets, Conures etc.): $25.00/cage/night
