DC REVIEW PREVIEWS
POD SPEEDZONE
The version I was able to play had 2 selectable cars, cougar and
crab and you could race on the volcano track. The visuals were super
smooth and featured a very impressive frame rate. Track side objects
were in the game as well including cars hanging over the track on
fire and long tentacles coming out of the ground and on to the track
swinging at you. There was no slowdown or pop up,but unfortunately I
could'nt play the online mode,I will have to wait until I get the
full version in,keep checking Dc review for the full review.
SPEED DEVILS ONLINE
The version I checked out had 2 playable cars and 2 playable
tracks, aspen and vegas. As soon as the action began I noticed that the
frame rate is going to need more work,it is in the 25-30 fps area.
The visuals were ok with shiny polished cars but the tracks in the
distance had no polish. There was no pop up and there was some neat
trackside objects including bulldozer, ufo and fighter jets flying
overhead, the ufo needs more frames of animation! Controls were good
and AI was very tough and physical. But the online mode was not
playable,so I will have to wait for the full version, stay tuned to dc
review.
OUTTRIGGER
Outtrigger is Sega's attempt to compete against the Quakes, the unreals, the half lifes, and so far what I have played they are on the right track. This game is super smooth!,constant 60 fps, very high res graphics awesome control, the game just already plain rules,I can not wait for the full version and put the review here on Dc review, stay tuned!
18 WHEELER AMERICAN PRO TRUCKER
What do we have here?!,yep its another crazy and unique driving game feom Sega. From what I have seen so far this game is destined to be an instant classic, just like it's driving "cousin" Crazi Taxi.Your goal will be to get your load of freight to the destination before your rival trucker does,no matter what gets in your way.The visuals were very sharp and detailed and physics were just like being in a real big rig. Look for the full review soon here on DC Review.
MAX STEEL
Max comes off the cartoon hour on tv and jumps right into your Dreamcast. The playable version I played featured clean graphics and good sound and music. The frame rate in my opinion was a little slow but hopefully that will be fixed before the final release.Control was tight and responsive but the game was difficult,be ready for a challenge when you pick this one up.
METROPOLIS STREET RACER
When I first fired this baby up I was wowed!,super realistic tracks and environments that look like their real life counterparts and the time of day on the track will depend on what time is on your Dreamcast internal clock. Graphics were very smooth and the frame rate was top notch. Control will take a little while getting used to but you will get the hang of it and earning those kudos in no time. This is destined to be a in house favorite here at DC Review so stay tuned to DC Review for the full game review.
PHANTASY STAR ONLINE
Here it is,the most anticipated online game on the Dreamcast, and unfortunately I have not been able to get a playable version yet and it is driving me insane!!,this game looks really sharp, the environments, characters, and monsters look down right amazing!,stay tuned to DC Review for the full review in long form.
