Brennus Monroe works as a tutor for an ancient history class and his stunning good looks give him a lot of attention. If they knew he was an eon's old vampire, he would get a lot more attention.

Darien is Priest of a small local Wicca Coven and lives with his sister. She requests him to perform a love spell over class tutor, Brennus Monroe. Brennus seeks him out to reverse the spell. Not only does he find an irresistably gorgeous man but also the soul of the very evil he seeks to exact revenge upon, Vortimere.

Brennus has vowed to kill Darien to destroy the soul of Vortimere once and for all. Darien knows that he is not actually Vortimere, but that the evil priest has, somehow, attached his soul to Darien's. An excellent conflict is set up as Darien struggles to find a way to rid his soul of Vortimere, rescue Brennus from his tortured past, keep himself alive and win Brennus's love.

I found the Wiccan story line very enjoyable. The sex scenes were portrayed as hot and sometimes dangerous. D. J. Manly has created a book with strong bonds between the characters, not the least of which is Brennus and Darien's devotion. It is quite a suspenseful book. So if you like the type of scary that gets into your head, this is one for you. A fresh portrayal of a vampire theme makes this an exciting read.

When Brennus was burned alive as a young Druid he implored the goddess to bring him back in his original form so he can seek justice and revenge against those that harmed him. The Goddess brought him back as a vampire. Brennus has tracked down all those that were involved in the sacrifice. The leader of the group however, died before Brennus could track him down. Brennus, in the present day, starts to have dreams of that night and he realizes that Vortimere’s soul has come back to this plane. He is in for a surprise when he finds the man that Vortimere’s soul has possessed.

Brennus’ Witch is a very well written paranormal romance that uses Wicca as its backdrop. Although I normally avoid romances which involve a male/male relationship, this book captured my attention and held it until the last page. The characters are well rounded and very believable. You are drawn to the conflict of Brennus finally getting justice or finding a love that will last. I have to say that the love scenes are passionate, loving and very hot. There are some violent scenes that may make some squeamish. However, they are necessary to the story. D. J. Manly has definitely done well his research on the Wicca religion, which plays such a strong part in the plot. This is not a book for everyone. If you have problems with alternative religions or male/male love scenes then you might want to try a different book. Overall Brennus’ Witch is a very good book that most will enjoy.

Professor Bennus Monroe teaches ancient religions at the university. He holds a very dark secret within himself. He is a vampire with a grudge. Brennus was born in 600 B.C. and later became a druid priest. An evil priest named Vortimere became obsessed with Brennus. When Vortimere realized he could not have Brennus, he tortured and murdered him. Brennus begged his gods to avenge his death.This was how Brennus came to be a vampire. When a love spell wrecks havoc on Brennus, he goes on to search for the true source where he finds the gorgeous and sweet wiccan priest Darien Rhys.

Once Darien and Brennus meet, it is an attraction that cannot be denied by either. As with every love story, they have an obstacle. This obstacle is Vortimere. Vortimere has transported his soul into Darien's body. He will destroy both men because of his jealousy and hatred. Brennus has any one option. He will have to murder Darien on the night of "Feast of the Dead". Darien knows there has to be a better solution then his own death! The solution he comes up with is against both of their principles for it involves dark magic. Plus Brennus will have to believe in Darien and his love. The trust issue might be harder to handle, considering that Darien technically tortured and killed him years ago. Brennus is starting to wonder if love always has to be soo complex Darien and Brennus must work to find a solution that will allow them to trust again.

Brennus' Witch is a fantastic read. The characters' development is done with careful thought and heart felt emotion. Brennus is truly a tortured hero who will reach the reader with his anguish and pain. His perfect lover is Darien, who symbolizes everything that is lacking in Brennus's life:honesty, love and innocence. The evil that occurred to Brennus was horrible and deserves revenge. How this revenge comes about is clever and will surprise those that indulge in this story. Enjoy!

All the characters are three-dimensional and you really get involved with the dilemma of the two gorgeous heroes. The sex is steamy and the atmosphere spot on.

I would recommend this book without reservation. It held me gripped to the very end.
