Dave and Clare Do and Dare
We are Dave and Clare. We've been together now for just over 2 years and have decided to share our passion with you lot.
We don't have any "hobbies" but we've loads of stuff we love to do: We love extreme sports especially BASE jumping (obviously, we're MAD for it!) but we also like skiing, diving and sailing.
Clare also writes poetry, which she's fairly modest about but which is actually pretty damn good!!
Recently both of us have started studying Psychology, which is another passion of ours! We do like a laugh, and decided to join as if we didn't know each other - but alas, I think we've already been found out....

What is BASE Jumping?
BASE (Building, Antenna, Span, Earth Feature) Jumping is just that - parachuting for those afraid to fly!! In reality though, you need to have experience with free-fall sky-diving before you try it.
How safe is it?
It is more dangerous that "normal" parachuting because you don't carry a reserve - the distance is too short to make it effective. You carry a "fast-open" chute and often hold your pilot chute in your hand on shorter jumps.
Is it illegal?
How dare you suggest that what we do is illegal!!! ;) Depends on how you do it. Jumping off the top of a sky-scraper into a busy street? That's illegal (and we don't do that, honest! ;)). Jumping at special events is fine if they're properly organised (such as the picture above), although you usually still get a bunch of do-gooders telling you how dangerous it is and you should stop (most of them with cigerettes hanging out of their mouths - go figure...).
A number of people have said "I'd love to do it, but NO WAY!!!"
Most sane people say that, but once you've done it once - well, what can I say? If you can jump out of an aircraft you can BASE jump!

What do you say on your first jump?
Hmmm....usually goes something like this:
"Oh, I'm not sure I can do this...Bugger, can't back out now, everyone's watching.....oh well, here goes......Ssshhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.....hey WOW! Again! Again!"
